The Anime and Manga Thread v47

Yes it was so bad I forgot everything YYH related, lmao.

Chimera ant arc. Dragged for too long IMO, but the second time I rewatched HxH it didn't seem as bad as I remember. Maybe because I didn't pay full attention the second time around since I already knew the plot and outcome.

Oooooohhhh. Makes me want to read the manga. I just hope there's a Hisoka vs Illumi fight and it's animated.
I personally loved the chimera ant arc but I get it

@JBSchroeds

Latest Northern Blade , interesting that Dam didn't hide that directly killed one of the Nine Skies . Also Moyong clearly is in charge but even him and the Illusion Master don't seem to have a grasp of the Northen Heavenly Sects hidden movements. Good to see Ha Seoul , ominous last few panels.
That was quite the 'zoom out' set of panels. Nasty.

So do we Sub or Dub?

I watched a Silent voice and it was great in both. I recommend a silent voice to anyone who is willing, moving, funny. All the buttons.

IMO: whatever you're most comfortable with. I think we're well past the days of dogshit translations and F-tier acting. Sub purists are living in a world that doesn't really exist anymore. Bu bu but muh original intent! Meh, you can't understand the language anyways, and we're not talking about an Oscar nominated acting performance full of micro-expressions; one flappy mouth animation is much the same as another flappy mouth animation. So yeah: whatever lets you enjoy yourself more.

Yeah I have gotten

yeah I've gotten so used to them both over the years it really doesn't bother me anywho. I also just saw Akira again in like a decade, I still enjoyed it but it still is kinda cheese but whatever. I still love it.

You have to see it for yourself. It didn't seem that way at all. It's mostly girls actually. And also, who cares if it's gay at times. Grow up

How dare you insinuate I am homophobic. I watch Jojo. I just don't watch anything where they aren't fighting.

Me and my neighbor the gangster is an amazing slice of life. Latchkey kid, his tranny uncle and the yakuza neighbor upstairs.

I enjoyed it too when I watched the anime, but while I was reading the manga I caught up with the author's release schedule during that arc, so I had to wait weeks, sometimes months or like a year just to get a new chapter, and it made that arc drag and feel like hell.

I'm not sure how popular Trigun was in America before it got on Adult Swim. Had the unfortunate timing of coming out around the same time as Cowboy Bebop.
Outlaw Star came out around the same time too and had massive exposure via Toonami during its prime.

Trigun anime was good, but the manga was great, especially when it switched from a shounen publication over to a Seinen publication. Wolfwood was one of my favorite anime characters when I was a teen.

Cowboy bebop is obviously very beloved, but I always had a soft spot for outlaw star. I still have a dvd collection of that series that I got like 20 years ago. Good times

And have any of you guys ever watched Naoki Urasawa's Monster? I have always wonder why a lot of people always highly regard Urasawa's work especially the praise for Monster.

The first work I consume from Urasawa is 20th Century Boys, and it dissapointed me big time. I got into Monster cause I was searching for something similar to Death Note, and yet again I was left dissapointed. Urasawa seem to always make great beginning for his series but his pacing and conclusion to two of his works I have consume is atrocious.

I love him, and I loved both of the works you mentioned. I had no problems with the endings either, though admittedly I don't remember the details of the endings at the moment. I might need to do a re-watch soon.

@Peteyandjia is a big fan of Monster, if I recall.

Whooooaaa brother Theo, I never thought you are a man of culture as well hahaha.

Hxh goes from good to great around ep 33

I was a big fmab fan but HxH is so much better imo. Give it time to marinate it is in my top anime series all time (and many other peoples obviously).

Nen is coming up in 1-2 arcs? It is not really that important yet.

FMAB is driving in a super fast car moving in a constant speed. HxH is like a rollercoaster. There are some arcs that were completely boring for me then it goes Brrrrr.
I'm about to continue watching today. I know the manga hasn't ended yet but a lot of people seems to think the anime ending is fine as an ending. Do you guys continue reading the manga after done watching?

The manga right now is having some of its better chapters but the pacing isn’t great and some of the chapters have an overwhelming amount of text for a manga (especially since I read on my phone). I still reccomend it though

the anime’s ending is actually really good. There’s loose ends surrounding a particular character who gets the focus in the manga after, but the anime ends with a great moment that wraps up a large part of the story.

You go on break for years….. then they will remake it in a decade and add more content….

The anime “ending” stops when he expands the world like ten times.
