The Anime and Manga Thread v46 [OLD THREAD]

Wano was just so much better than Whole Cake Island. I gave up during the Big Mom stuff, but came back 3/4s of the way through Wano. Night and day in quality for me.
This is where I stopped reading as well. And never went back.

Toyotaro's writing sucks but it's the correct Move for Freeza to be the most imposing threat . The Heaters looked like shitty fan art.
I like how Elec was exposed to be one of the weakest of the Heaters. Kind of common in the real world where you have fat, disgusting beta males in a leadership position and having young, brave men fight for them.

Dressrosa and Whole Cake Island are both a lot better when you can marathon them. Reading them week to week was a slog.

I just really cannot stand Big Mom.

I find her to just be an awful villain, especially for one so important to the story.

I kind of see what Oda was going for , but the execution was poor. Whole Cake island is supposed to be haven for oddities, which the humans of the One Piece World have shown that can be prejudice against non humans due to fear. Big Mom would have been better presented as someone Brutal to regular Humans but protective of the other races, bit she comes off as a clumsy Baffoon.

Spoilers are out and Mihawk is getting some love/hype.

Dude I was just about to tag you . Major Bounty update for the Strawhats and also for Mihawk , Crocodile and Buggy.

Main take away for me was that Mihawk was a Marine Hunter before becoming a Shichibukai and Zoro once again had a Higher Bounty than Sanji lol.

The Marines basically paid Mihawk to stop kicking their ass. Shit even Jimbei has a higher bounty than Sanji lol.

And of course Crocodile is the brains behind Cross Guild.

Crocodile showed his powerhouse status at Marineford for sure getting in the way of Admirals and Shichibukai , makes sense that he is more powerful after the time skip , Das Bones is probably more of a monster now too, but he seems to be overlooked by the Marines and that is to his and Crocodile's benefit

I've been working my way through that list. Thoughts so far.

Kaguya-Sama Wa Kokurasetai - Tensai-Tachi No Renai Zunousen: Not for me. I didn't care much for the character art and there was so much text I felt like they'd chosen the wrong format; they weren't taking advantage of the manga format and instead seemed like it was just written like a book and slapped into a manga with rudimentary scene directing and framing.

Kine-San No 1-Ri De Cinema: I really wanted to like this one, but it didn't hit. I quite enjoyed the first chapter, but by the third the humor just wasn't working for me.

Shangri-La Frontier: Enjoyed this one. I liked that there was nothing supernatural going on. No isekai. No stuck-in-the-game. No weirdo nefarious corporations. Just a dude playing games. I also liked that we get intermissions with the different games he's played and how it's filling out his crew.

Last one is getting an anime soon. Looks amazing and I'll post the trailer when I get a good chance. And yeah I agree about how it's really good that it doesn't go any of those cliche routes. Ditto for rounding out the various other guilds, groups, and players. It makes the world feel more real and alive.

I thought we weren't supposed to like season 2? I haven't watched One Punch Man yet.

Animation quality snobs are not supposed to like it, but it was fine to me. Would love some Demon Slayer type quality, but I'm also ok with season 2 level if it means S3 will come out sooner then later. Crossing my fingers they give us more then 12 episodes though, lol.

I've been watching since the 80s, and this is still the one of the best sequence of animation ever made for a series.

Now if only they could remake Slamdunk with Production IG and teach the Kuroko generation what basketball anime is all about.
