The Anime and Manga Thread v46 [OLD THREAD]

What a disappointment Shield hero season two was. I guess it's to be expected. The revenge aspect is completely over. Also, the RPG element of him levelling up in the beginning is gone, so now it's just become a generic isekai.

Last five threads have averaged 187 days.

Yes, I have a spreadsheet that lists the post date of every single thread, what of it?
And God(of your choosing including none, but still thought that counts)Bless You for that. I still remember that fucking transfer that lost several of our old threads and discussions all the way back to...Impel Down being fresh on the manga/anime? Jesus that was a lifetime ago.

Edit: Holy Shit did the rum and vodka affect me hard if I didn't notice this was a Page 1 post by you. Still glad and really mean the post since...man it's been a LOOOOOOOOONG time with these.

First post was September 2010. Certainly never expected them to run this long when I started them.

There's actually a HUGE chunk of more manga to rec(including some that have anime), but many are SoL which I recall aren't your preference. I do wanna rec Shangri-la Frontier which is similar to Log Horizon in some ways and absolutely BOSS as well as the following.

Nomi Joshi - SoL about group of lady friends eating and drinking better food than some of us likely ever will.

Drinking is for Married Couples - Bartender husband makes drinks for his wife.

Kine Cinema - Office manager lady is a HUGE crazy film buff behind the scenes.

Duke of Death and his Black Maid - Young Master of the house is afflicted with a death touch and seeks a cure while living with his maid whom he is in love with.

Love After World Domination - Red Power Ranger and general of the "Evil Organization" are secretly dating.

Perfect Girlfriend(name might be off) - Semi-autobiographical manga about the author and his girlfriends day to day life.

Shikimori Is Not Just Cute - Meek nice boy with bad luck is dating School Turbo Chadette.

Our Love is Medium Rare(grilling romcom) - Couple meet in marriage interview and try to relationship and bond over barbecue.

Kaiju #8 - Older(late 20's to early 30's) Guy gains powers from a monster and uses them alongside of monster hunting military.

Wondance(pretty sure I recced this to you already) - Awkward guy and cool girl bond over street dance.

Shadow House - Not watched, but have heard VERY positive things.

And another I've heard very nice things about from the author of World Only God Knows about an couples faking being in a relationship so as to not get sent to Siberia due to business office stuff, but the name escapes me.

Forgot to add Taisho Otome Otogibanashi. Very good historical romcom.

I read Kaiju/Monster #8 and Wondance. Enjoy and would recommend both of them. The art for Wondance does a great job conveying motion. #8 is nice to have a protag who's not a teenage prodigy. I'll add the rest to the list (Love After World Domination actually sounds like it could be a lot of fun).

The Green Ranger chapter is an absolute gem. I agree with Kaiju #8. The prodigy thing isn't a deal breaker, but a protag who's an adult and acts like one is a HUGE breath of fresh air(this is what sold me on Tensei Slime).

Of the listed, I think Nomi Joshi would be the big one for similar reasons to SoL I've recced you in the past(Ran and the Ashen World author has another manga I think you'd like) in that it has amazing art and detailed depictions of food and drink(not that the others don't, but this feels more your wheelhouse).

Shikimori is another great one that got raked over the coals(anime at least) for what I frankly think are bullshit reasons, but the manga is wholesome fluff in a similar vein and tier to Yandere Kanojo(Shout-out to Heavyarms for reccing this in an age long past).

Edit: If you're not reading Land of the Lustrous, get on that even if just for the art(pretty sure I've recced this before too).

The scopedog.

<Oku04>

I rewatched most of the Votoms stuff recently, they really need to make more stuff. It's a rich world and there is room for many stories.

i love the Votoms and Scope dog. ive been wanting some modeels of them

Dress-up Darling exploded HUGE and was beloved by the community like almost nothing else in terms of romcoms and became hugely successful immediately selling HUGE numbers. It's also VERY horny.
Burned through the first 30 chapters and quite enjoyed it. Then it turned into a straight romance and by chapter 40 I checked out.

Besides the straight romance(which I know you're not big on), any other thoughts? That in mind I really doubt you'll like Shikimori is not Just Cute since it's basically a SoL Romcom. I'm still curious about the others and there were more I was gonna rec, but need to brain thunder them back into my head.

Isekai is a genre that I grew to not like. I always give it a shot though but I always drop them when it morphs into some harem with no real story. I thought shield hero was redo of a healer lite and there will be a messed up revenge component. It's just hero who overcomes that initial hump and gets a bunch of girl animal slaves that want to blow him.

Oh yea new isekai trash that is coming up.

I'm very mixed bag on isekai. A lot of the ones I enjoy tend to be more laid back stuff(too many to list)or be about society building in a way like Tensei Slime. There's others in-between as well, but that's all I really got on the matter.

Damn so after debating what to watch next I somehow decided to give Kuroko's Basketball a try since it right there in Netflix. Only about 4 episodes in, but I'm kind of liking it so far. Also have been watching Orient and season 2 is starting to heat up.

Its kinda hilarious in its ridiculousness. You got guys firing the ball 100 mph an hour or jumping through roof yet person is not "athletically gifted'.

Plot is basic sports stuff but animation is ok and its entertaining.

solid anime imo and worth watching if you like sport stuff

I heard it gets ridiculous, but seems pretty fun so far. I have pretty much no sports anime under my belt besides Hinomaru Sumo that I enjoyed. I probably should have picked up Haikyuu instead, but oh well.

Haikyuu is way better than Kuroko no DBZ. Yowamushi pedal if you want a competitive cycling anime.
