Television The Anime and Manga Thread: v45

Finished watching the live action Rurouni Kenshin: The Final and halfway through the last movie The Beginning. Was a huge fan of the 3 movies that I watched before even though I never read the manga or watched the anime. I ended up watching some of the anime but never finished. My favorite live action and definitely recommend watching all of it if you already haven't.

Ended up watching this based on your comments. I wanted to see what "the best live action" looked like these days. Was very impressed ended up watching the whole thing. The final wasn't nearly as good the the beginning but still good. I didn't realize there were other movies as well so I ended up missing a lot. I've seen most of the show though so I understood what was going on.

watch the prequel ova, one of the best ova of all time.

Yea I ended up buying the prequel when it came out and it was great. Had a few friends come over and we enjoyed it.

Nice. Glad you liked it. The first 3 movies are definitely worth the watch as well, but at least you already know the storyline. My favorite is probably a combination of Kyoto Inferno and The Legend Ends (2nd and 3rd movies) although I really enjoyed The Beginning as well.

I might go back and watch them. Got burnt out after the other two. I didn't realize I was missing other movies until I got about half way through the 2nd one.

Haven’t watched any anime in a few months, but 2 more to add to the dozen on my plan to watch list for things yet to be released

Only read the first couple volumes but thought it was promising. Its one of the most popular series currently that wasn’t animated

Read about 200 chapters (stopped reading because it’s in the middle of a game, would much rather binge that than follow it weekly) but I’m a big fan of it. Glad it got a good studio too

Not fucking around.

Looking forward to how the enemies will react , the Heavenly Alliance was so sure the Sword Master was going to Finish Jin Mu Won and they were going to control the Narrative now , they have to face the realization that the Northern Blade was capable of taking out two Legendary Figures from the era of the Silent Night War and he has significant allies that haven't revealed themselves yet.

I tried to get into Jojo's bizarre adventure because i heard alot about it. It was overrated, but I powered through to part 3 stardust crusaders because I was waiting for stands to come into the story as the last saving grace.

But the stands didn't live up to the hype for me either. They weren't explained enough like other power systems in other stories do, they're just there.

I stopped at ep 15 or stardust crusaders, jojo is severely overrated. I may still power through the rest of part 3 however, just to watch the legendary Dio vs Jotaro battle, so that next time I see a meme related to it I could finally get what's going on.

If you dont like the show, stop watching it. Imagine wasting your limited time on something you dislike just because you wanna be 'in' on the memes.

Jojo's is a top 5 anime for me though.

You guys ever read something that's just so...weird...that you keep reading even though you can't figure out whether you actually like it or not? Amazing Ji Jiri is doing that to me right now.

The mom in this is definitely built different. I've read few chapters that was what was out at the time. I liked it from what I read looks like I'll need to catch up

I watched the movie "A Silent Voice" last night and to be honest, I've never been so moved by a movie before.
If you haven't seen it and feel like having a soul crushing experience give it a watch. Kyoto Animation definitely gave Comix Wave a run for their money in terms of artistic brilliance with this one.

on the strength of this post I really want to watch this… and I really don’t want to as well… lol

Yep I tried to get into JoJo but couldn't. Stardust was as far as I made it but I actually enjoyed season 1. Stardust got on my nerve with their villain of the week stuff. I cant stand that sort of format when it comes to anime.

I did stop watching it. I've done much more for the memes, it's just nine episodes left.

How is jojo top 5? Have you only watched 3 anime, but you subconsciously leave 2 blank spaces before JoJo?

What do you like about it?

Weird as in disturbing or , so odd that it's enthralling.

Ive watched hundreds of anime of all types. I know some may not like it, and thats fine. Art is subjective. I personally enjoy it because it never takes itself too seriously, and has some of the most fun fights, characters and dialogue in anime. The art styles change multiple times in the show, and it constantly tackles new premises etc. The Kira arc is beautiful but then you get to the Golden Wind arc and Im still stunned. It also has some beautiful openings and endings. I love the show.

I also think it may be the only anime where it gets better nearly every season. Thats insane to think about. 5 seasons and its getting better?

Some of my personal top 5 anime ever include Attack on Titan and Death Note.

Thats the great thing about Jojo's, they change the structure in the seasons after. Golden Wind and Kira arcs arent like that. I love that the author can just change on a whim and it makes sense but to each their own. I loved the monster of the week type format for Stardust.

Part one was the better of the 3 imo.

As you said part 3 was too formulaic and repetitive, if they had captured the chimp with the ship stand they could have forced him to take them to Egypt, but nobody thought of that, instead they had to go the long way around through land so they could milk this journey as much as possible.

As for part 2, even though it had more intresting villians in the pillar men, the action and the tension was always ruined by Jonathan saying something annoying or flamboyant.

"You're about to say blah blah blah" then they go "blah blah blah " , part 2 had alot of potential because of its villains but Jonathan made a mockery out of it , every time they tried to build up a serious impactfull moment, he was always there to drag them back to the ground. Jonathan is definitely the worst jojo ever.

Jonathan is definitely the worst jojo ever.
This is the worst take on any character that Ive ever seen. <Lmaoo>

He's the GOAT Jojo.

But I dont understand why youre forcing yourself to watch something you clearly dislike.....
