Breaking or tying Randy Couture's records is a curse, or trying to do a Jon Jones is a curse as well, let's get into and look at Randy Couture's records:
1-Oldest champion in UFC history as well as MMA history, won the title at 43 and kept it until he was 45
2-Tied Tim Sylvia and Stipe Miocic for most heavyweight title bouts in UFC history (9)
3-Tied Stipe Miocic for most wins in UFC Heavyweight title fights (6)
4-Only fighter in UFC history and in MMA as well to win title bouts after being inducted to the UFC HOF (Randy was inducted to the UFC HOF itself in the pioneer wing but Jon Jones was inducted into the fight wing, Jon did comeback and won 2 title bouts but Randy was inducted to the UFC HOF itself)
5-Only fighter in UFC History to have had 3 reigns for a single division (he has the record for most reigns in UFC history of 6)
6-First fighter in UFC history to be a 2 divisional champion
7-Only fighter to be 3rd undisputed champion in both divisions cause coincidentally, he was the 3rd undisputed champ at HW and in LHW
Now let's talk about how so many fighters had this chance to break his records or tie it but failed:
-Dan Henderson tried to become oldest champion in UFC history and was robbed against Bisping
-Dominick Cruz, T.J. Dillashaw, Israel Adesanya and Stipe Miocic all tried to regain their titles for a 3rd time and failed
-Stipe tried to surpass UFC HW title bouts wins and failed against Jon
-No fighter in UFC History after they got inducted to the UFC HOF won title bouts after that (only Jon Jones can be considered to have done that after he was inducted for UFC HOF fight wing)
-Rose Namajunas could've been the other fighter to have became 3rd undisputed champ at W-FLY but didn't since she moved to W-FLY too late and Grasso became 3rd undisputed champ in that division, Rose was 3rd undisputed champ at W-SW
Also, let's get into fighters who tried to do a Jon Jones and failed:
-Israel Adesanya moved up to LHW and tried to be champ there but failed, him and Volkanovski
-Cejudo wanted to do a comeback like Jon did in same year and failed against Sterling
-Stipe tried to make Francis his Gustafsson but Francis got his revenge
-DJ almost tied Jon for most title defenses in UFC history (Jon has most title defenses in UFC history of 12 overall) but failed as DJ stopped at 11 when he lost to Cejudo in their rematch back in 2018 and Jon broke that record in 2024 with his victory against Stipe
-John Alessio tried to be youngest champ and failed against Miletich, also we've seen many fighters tried to be that but failed, the UFC stopped Mokaev from breaking that record and Roxanne derailed Maycee Barber's hype back in 2020.
Something Common about both Jon Jones and Randy Couture is that both were the only interim LHW champions and both had most title bouts in UFC history, Jon surpassed Randy's record and Jon is the one that has 17 as Randy had 15 (along with GSP tho).
So the question is: can Amanda Nunes defy the odds and do what Jon Jones and Randy Couture did or will she fail? if Nunes wins against Harrison, she will be the 3rd or 2nd fighter in UFC history to win title bouts after being inducted to the UFC HOF and she will make a successful comeback like Jon Jones did with Ciryl Gane, also she will becthe 2nd fighter in UFC history to have had 3 reigns in a single division after Randy, can she do it?
Drop your opinions, and plz be polite and no trolling, thanks.
