Should we let a breed like the pit bull just die out and not have any more of them?

Nope, thats not true, my ole giant headed Fred Dog was abused horribly for the first 3 years of his life, I dont even wanna describe the horrific things that were done to him, but he was so damaged from the suffering he endured that he would cower down in the corner shaking uncontrollably with the fear of death in his eyes if a human even approached him

I rescued him from that situation by taking him away from the piece of shit that did those things to him and told him that if he wanted his dog back, he knows where I live, show up any time if he has the grapefruits

I then spent the next 10 years showing ole Fred nothing but love and care and the sweetest life he's ever known and he responded by being the most gentle, loving, amazing big giant teddy bear that wanted nothing but to snuggle and cuddle and be best friends with every human he ever met

He greeted everyone with the hugest smile you ever saw in your life til the day he passed

But according to these know it all Google dog experts with zero seconds of real life experience, I am a scum bag for loving an animal and literally saving their life and big ole lovable Fred is a beast of Satan that should've been exterminated in a death camp

And they clearly know way more about this situation than people with actual real life experience caring for these beautiful animals so it looks like you are wrong, Craze, wrong, wrong, wrong

wow, he's a Pit? that big old head seems very different to the 'old school' Floyd Boudreaux lineage of APBTs weighing like 30lbs, almost looks like he's had some bully or something bred into him (says the internet dog expert, big lol). how much does that good boy weigh, out of interest?

my dude, crazy was saying people like you are the 'exception' to the rule that by definition anyone owning a pitbull is a redflag, i mean he literally described you as an exception to the 'red flag' rule the other poster was making.

He was a Bully Breed, but as you are well aware, it all falls under the "Pitbull Type Dog" umbrella with these people

He was about 85 lbs, super dense, built like a brick LoL

Here he is with my girl dog Daisy, as you can see, they had the typical loving supportive husband & wife relationship

thanks, well they may lack my discernment but hopefully my breed recognition skills are testament that at least some internet dog experts know their stuff. lol.

ironically, i have said this before, i can see the point to the 'anti-Pit' arguments, if what we are talking about are dogs that are actually pit bulls, the so-called 'game dog' lineages, of which there are i believe many.

Its a sick joke of evolution we have played on these poor creatures, to selectively breed them with this incredible drive, to breed physical fear out of them and a huge resistance to pain into them, to give them generations of breeding where latching their jaws on and holding on with incredible force is their literal reason for being, and then expect them to function nicely in a domestic environment. Sure its possible but I do agree that with a true game bred line especially, and probably even in pit bull lines quite some removes from actual fighting dogs, there is an argument you just can't be too surprised if they end up reacting to *some kind of stimulus* in the only way their genes have told them too IE biting, holding and/or tearing to bits

i have seen some videos, a lot of dudes especially in the s/e, Florid and Arkansas and Georgia, will use their Pits as 'catch dogs' to catch feral hogs. And to see these creatures, chomping at the bit, literally crying with frustration at their owner to be let off the leash *to go and fight an animal like 4 times their size*, and they will go and fight that fucken thing and clearly, they're absolutely in their element, fight the fucken thing, get tossed around in the air like fuck but they still hold that damn grip and gradually bring the hog to ground, its incredible. Astonishing creatures, I can't think of another in the natural world where they literally have had their self-preservative instinct bred out of them, and to see them smash into those huge hogs is a sight to behold.

It makes me think, with that incredible drive that true Pits have, that using them for hunting hogs, as a way of satisfying that drive, as a way of giving them an outlet to do the one basic thing that we bred into their genes to be so driven to do, Is almost the fairest and most productive thing I can think of. that, or pulling sleds, or something.

Maybe my comment was misunderstood? Rescuing pitties from hellish environments get an exception. Rescuing animals in general is a wonderful thing to do. I have 2 rescues currently.

RIP doggos

If anything, we need more pit bulls on the streets. They are a lot more peaceful and friendly than humans, and bite way less than any other breed. They are a perfect nanny dog and I've let them sleep alone in the crib with every one of my babies. If they get mauled it's really on them, the doggo wouldn't maul you unless you deserved it.

Have you not had your coffee yet this morning, Craze, I was laying on the obvious sarcasm prettay thick at the end of that post, what the heck LoL

I miss my big ole lovable Fred Dog❤️ 🐶❤️

rom attack of jaguars, werewolves or other big creatures. But they have a deep hated for strangers, and they're very powerfull dogs, can pass 140 pounds.

WTF?? Hahaha!

Interesting info man, appreciated - the thing that surprises me the most about the Fila is that I've never seen one in the UK ever, and wasn't even aware it existed, so unsure how it got on the UK banned list - surely people in the UK would need to own them for them to gain a reputation to get banned? Also had never heard of the Dog Campeiro!
- They're more common in places with huge free spaces, you can walk around Brazil and rarely meet one, unless you try to find a breeder or go to a dog show, also today Filas are 15 kgs bigger than they used to be. I think they got banned for being similar to Mastif.

Also had never heard of the Dog Campeiro! Filas are internationaly reconized as a brazilian breed of dogs, they're far more popular than Dog campeiros, even here in the south.

Camperiso are a little lighter, the biggest cam´peiro can reach 50 kgs, that's almost a female filla. They are far docile and easier to manage, you can own other pets with them. And they dont hate any creature that gets close to you. We've been trying to get the breed more know.

The owners are not much better...
Also who would have thought?

Sweden - "By cross-referencing the dog register with BRÅ's register of convicted dog owners, we can see large differences in the proportion of convicted dog owners between different breeds. Almost every second pit bull owner and more than every third owner of an American bully, amstaff or American bulldog, are convicted of a crime.

When it comes to our two most common breeds, Labrador and golden retriever, only seven percent of owners are convicted of a crime."
- Those are the type of people that own them here. We need to make hard for those low-lifes retards to own a dog.
