Terminator (Police Station) or Heat (Shootout scene) - Which is the better scene?

Which is the better scene?

The Heat scene is better filmed but I think the Terminator scene is more impactful.

I like the kind of "mask off" moment for Terminator. It just drives home the repeated theme of "this thing is unstoppable, unreasonable, and doesn't play by the rules humans do." Fits into the tension of the movie well.

Yeah this is the point where the Terminator says enough of the infiltration shit...he's just going after Sarah now in the straightest line and shortest distance possible.

The scene isn't without imperfections...like the knee to the stomach KO of the cop. And when Arnold quickly takes a second look down the hallway at the beginning when talking to the desk guy, it doesn't seem very robot like. I always kind of wondered what could he have missed the first time that he would want that second look for or if such a thing could exist.

But the way the Brad Fiedel score picks up when Reese finds Sarah and they start making their way out...that's one of the best moments in the movie, in a movie filled with great moments, shots, music and imagery. I wish James Cameron would film another movie in this style at some point. Nowadays I don't think he would bother cutting to multiple locked down shallow depth of field inserts of the desk cop's hand as the build up to the crash. Same with the phone book, the close up of the car tires crushing the toy truck and so on.

Brad Fiedel was touched by the hand of god when he put together the score for the first Terminator. It enhances every scene in a way that few scores ever have.

Tactics and moves might have been somewhat legit from a technical standpoint but the little girl’s eardrums would have been blown off if it was real life.

Shooting a Galil while holding a little girl would have her flinching with every shot, probably crying too.

I voted for Terminator, because it was more realistic, which made it scary. Wasn't that a documentary? Heat was unbelievable. I'm pretty sure they use the Terminator scene for police traneing.

Two weird things about Heat.
Police had no interest in Trejo. Lol

The way Chris escapes is hilarious. A haircut and a fake id. Come on man.

Lol. The near unstoppable time travelling cyborg tanking m16 shots and just shooting cops without finding cover was more realistic?

I always thought Django and the Matrix were better. Heat just lacks a soul even if it is realistic. Both Heat and Terminator are good but the Terminator feels more ominous. Like realism doesn't automatically make a shootout enjoyable.

I don't know I was in the Marine Corps infantry we sure as fuck weren't using Hollywood videos for tactical training. We were often shown videos of real gun fights. The real thing is just different.
I'd actually love to see any movies investigate self defense gun fights and attempt to portray an honest depiction.

In Hollywood everyone is popping off headshots while they walk and say really clever things.

In real life even people with training fumble around, maybe their hand is shaking, they may miss an important step like remember to rack the slide and the connect percentage is extremely low. If I recall correctly maybe 1/3 of shots hit the intended target.

Never been in a gunfight, hope I never have to be. I also hope our military provides sufficient training to prepare soldiers, including trying to simulate dealing with the stress factor.

Netflix Punisher in small police station vs. Pilgrim and his goons.

No doubt Heat was more realistic. But for me Terminator was more fun.

Not necessarily because cops were getting annihilated but just the sheer over-the-top-ness of it. I even loved how it started with Aarnuhld telling the cop at the desk, "I'll be back." (I think that was his first time using that line.)

Yeah Arnold tried to convince James Cameron to switch it to "I will be back" until JC just told him to shut the fuck up and say what was on the page.

It took man weeks to learn how to say it without the accent iirc.
