They aren't selling this well in that featurette:

"The action is 10X bigger"

"This movie is relentless, it just doesn't stop"

Tim Miller: "Holy fuck, I'm directing a Terminator movie"

bad flashback to Rian Johnson's: "I think...we JUST MADE A STAR WARS MOVIE!"

Yeah.. I'm getting tired of brainless sci-fi.. I honestly can't tell whether they think we are all stupid, or whether it's a plot to make us stupid.. Or both.

Watched T1 last night with my son, first time seeing it in years. A few things-

A perfect 80s time piece- the scooter, the hair, the clubs.
It looked awesome in HD.
Best Terminator cyborg ever- none of that family friendly shit.
Obvious Linda Hamilton body double during sex scene.
Perfect length, great action, so many memorable scenes.
Better than any Terminator film ever, including 2, by a lot.

New one looks like a joke.

Idk her head was attached to her body for a lot of the sex scene..

I'm a big Terminator 1&2 fan but don't give a shit about this one.

The amount of recycling going on has reached its peak with this movie

Terminator 1 is unmatched and it will never be matched.

Terminator 2 is cool but its not Terminator 1

This really does look a bit rubbish, unless the reaction is massively positive or I'm very bord I doubt I'll bother with it.

Ironic that a film which disreguards the sequels after T2 actually seems to have more in common with those films than it does the originals.

Kinda seems like linda hamilton is phoning this role in. The beach scene looked cool. The lanky chick with traps seems annoying.

Just watched the new trailer. Completely cringey dialogue and cartoony CG in virtually every scene. I can't believe how lazy studios are with huge budgets. Even the blood and gun flashes are CGI. I just roll my eyes when I see that kind of stuff when you have movies with shoestring budgets in the 70s and 80s using squibs and gun blanks.

If they want to make another Terminator, they should have made a low budget sci-fi horror movie with just a killer robot trying to kill someone like T1. Make it gritty, realistic and scary. Instead, we get what looks like a sequel with Genesys with Linda Hamilton and a feminist and political message.

didnt sarah connor die of cancer and her son got killed and replaced by a terminator. maybe im just crazy

I'm a huge Terminator fan. Terminator was a classic. T-2 has always been my all time favorite action movie. Shit I didn't even mind T-3 other than I thought they could have cast a better John. Salvation was so disappointing. And Genisys was a jump the shark moment with me.

That all being said this looks like a decent mindless action romp. It's hard for me to care though because they've butchered the story so bad it just turns me off. So now Sarah is alive again and John is insignificant? Really just invalidates everything before it. Turning John heel in Genisys was beyond stupid but making him essentially a throw away character after being built up is just as bad if not worse.

Is it so hard to make a Terminator movie after Judgement Day that isn't complete shit with John Connor and Kyle Reece? Also can we stop with the we gotta prevent judgement day movies already? Move on FFS.

This movie Dark Fate is for all intents and purposes T3 the direct fallow up after the first two. All other movies that came after T2 have been retcon so this movie can do it's thing for better or worse.

James Cameron got back the rights to the franchise so he is officially back as a producer / adviser / story by. He handpicked Tim Miller (Deadpool, Love Death & Robots) after he impressed in a movie pitch meeting being passionate about Terminator.

They will bring back the original actors for T-800, Sarah and John Connor but for the later (Edward Furlong) is most likely used in a small role because the man is a total mess in his life with drugs, alcohol, women, sexual abuse, not in shape etc.. the complete works for a Hollywood superstar child actor, so most likely he isn't reliable/professional or presentable.. so we must be aware of the situation and put some context in our expectations at least on that front.

T1 and T2 are masterpieces and most likely T3 (Dark Fate) won't be able to achieve that glory yet a target/goal that this movie should be way better then the last 3 sequels tries is within obtainable limits.

They should just CGI Furlong's face in a random dude like they did with Paul Walker, shoehorn Kyle Reese in the story, bring back Linda Hamilton and Arnold and stop this stop the judgement day bullshit.

Might as well. I’ve seen all of them, will watch this as well.

This movie could've been watchable if it didn't have Linda Hamilton.
She made this shit unwatchable.

Did you hear how deep her voice was in that trailer?
Jeeeeeezuz!
She sounded like a fucking man!
And her dialogue sounded absolutely ridiculous!

I'll wait until they show it on HBO

Sounds like she’s been a long time smoker, or maybe it’s just the age thing, but I think Linda looks decent considering how old she is; also, I didn’t feel like she had the Sarah Connor vibe that she did in T2 based off the trailer.

It seems par for the course with most 70's/80's franchises these days, put out a lazy film and each time have a unique bit of nostalgia to sell it, how many such films have actually been good this millennium? Fury Road and Rogue One but little else I can remember, I spose Predators was decent.

Reboots seem to have a bad name for some reason but honestly carrying on franchises well beyond their used by date Is worse, films become confuses messes of lore that sell themselves on nerdish references rather than the tight concepts the originals had. Remaking films with some ambition actually has the potential for great work, The Thing, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, the Fly, Sorcerer, etc, indeed I'd say Fury Road is a semi remake.

if Hollywood really must stick to these franchises then go back to basics with the original concept, mix things up a bit plot/setting wise, have a budget more around $50-80 million so you can aim at an r-rated adult audience and still make money.
