Human-machine hybrid, bro.

With these characters in the trailer, everything just looks out of place...

Speaking of putting the wrong person in the wrong role, might be one of the worst movie casting decision ever made.

Super cringe-worthy, bro.
They already did a human machine hybrid that though the was human and not terminator.

After Genysis they're not fooling me again. That movie and Alien Covenant are the worst films I've seen in the theater in the last decade. I'm done watching them try to milk the corpse of both franchises.
Covenant wasn't bad, when compared with movies in general, it just did not live up to expectations of Alien fans because it didn't answer some of the questions posed by Prometheus and like Promtheus continued to portray the crew as bumbling idiots.

The Fassbender stuff was good and nothing else about the movie was good.

Hi James Franco, oh, never mind, bye. Introduced after he was already dead by Snapchat video.

Kill the promiscuous teens in the shower.

Give Billy Crudup a Plenty of Fish intro video speech where he mentions that he's a person of faith so now the movie has depth and religious themes. Riiiight... Hey look in this monster egg for a second would you?

Hey Tennessee. Like Dallas, get it? Wink wink.

Remember that chick from Prometheus? At least she was semi-interesting. Fuck it, now she's dead and replaced with a less interesting chick. You didn't like Prometheus? Fine, now you get a worse version of Prometheus, assholes.

I’ve never watched the whole series. I liked it but missed a bunch of episodes.

I need to watch it from start to finish sometime.

Im almost finished with season 1

I think I remember season 2 being a big drop off

Something about a writers strike

Alien Covenant was Alien Ressurection levels of bad

David was like an old cartoon villain twirling his mustache

Billy Crudup clearly doesn't trust David but lets follow him into that dark cave anyways

Bisexual is right about the teen shower stuff though

Its like the characters are in the wrong movie

You have taken B level horror movie characters and inserted them into a tentpole highbrow science fiction universe

These characters continue to move the plot along with their stupid actions and its almost unwatchable for me

I saw it once in the theater and I probably wont ever watch it again

Those things made it bad. What potential there was at the end with rapace heading to the engineers planet; David being a tweener, and not pure evil. Covenant had its moments, I guess, and David writing the very good Prometheus theme song was kind of cool, but it was pretty much a complete waste. The sci fi was deep as a puddle.. David was just putting the goo in people, and the movie offended he was doing some advanced genetic engineering. It was a fkn insulting joke, really.

It's on cable right now. Should I watch it once? I've had the entire thing spoiled, of course.

Ridley got a lot of flak from Alien fans for not featuring Xenomorph action. He seemed to take that criticism seriously and consequently included the Xenomorphs into Covenant quite a bit.

Frankly Ridley should not have listened to the fans urging for more Xenomorph action. We already have many Alien movies with Xenomorphs, why do we need every single movie to feature them prominently. I would much rather Ridley explore the Engineers, their homeworld and engage in Engineer lore and world building than make another Alien movie where Xenomorphs are featured prominently.

Prometheus was annoying for many, me included, because the writers were so to dam lazy to develop a script where the crew were competent. They took the easy way out and made the crew buffoons so they could get the plot going . They got rightly criticized for this but then they do the same shit again in Covenant.

They said that but I never heard one complaint about "where were the aliens." Not one. This felt like a manufactured "you don't like female strong characters" kind of complaint to blind themselves to the flaws in their own movie.

People didn't like stupid scientists, ruining the space jockey, and other dumb Lindelof tropes. Plus doing away with or minimizing Giger's designs to make himself seem like the sole author of the Alien phenomenon.

Ridley convinced himself that people didn't like Prometheus because it didn't have aliens, so he solved a problem that didn't exist and ended up screwing around with the few things about Prometheus that were at least somewhat intriguing.

Who knows what he has convinced himself the problem was with Covenant now. Probably strong female characters or something.

No it was a pretty bad movie.

Wonder if he is ever going to make part 3 ? Initially , around the time of Prometheus and just before Covenant , the talk was there was going to be a final concluding movie. But after the criticism Covenant got, I believe Ridley walked away from doing Movie #3.

I always liked the idea that the Predators engineered them as hunting prey. Or the Engineers engineered them.

But now apparently David did? That's Last Jedi level of fuck what the fans want, I'll write some nonsensical shit.

YES. This is 100% correct. They don't like the fans being as smart, or smarter, than they are, which of course many are, and they didn't like fans accurately pointing out flaws in the movie, such as stupid scientists which you would assume are thee top of their field;t he male "doctor" partner of Rapace was horribly miscast; and many other either stupid, or without resolution plot questions.

They went deep in certain areas, and then went shallow in others. They went a little of the 'lost' route, and had questions without answers for the sake of mystery.. But even they didn't know what the hell they were talking about, and a mystery that has no solution isn't a mystery at all..

Too many of the characters didn't fit their role, and the somewhat interesting questions they left unanswered, obviously had no answer. That's lazy and stupid.

Prometheus is a beautiful, high potential, lazy and stupid movie. Hollyshit has spent so much time dumbing down movie goer to make us "easy," that instead of facing the truth that the audience wanted something SMARTER, they just went delusional and pretended the audience wanted DUMBER... Because people that did blow or diddled young girls with the right people some years ago simply have to be smarter than plebes that buy movie tickets.

Right.. Maybe the engineers and predators are at odds in the galaxy. Maybe the predators were becoming too advanced, and the engineers tried to wipe them out with xenos, but the predators won.

You could go 100 interesting directions that mixes lore with action.. You could make Oscar worthy movies out of the material.. But wtf are they doing with it? They're tarding out and trying to drag us with them.

Right.. And he "engineered" them by just mixing goo. They already had drawings of aliens from the actual engineers, so David didn't do shit. Stupid.

Terminator franchise, Alien franchise and Predator franchise all suffer from the same problem

In essence, Alien, Terminator and Predator are sci-fi slasher films. They have an incredibly simple premise and they don't overexplain things.

They were never designed to be giant tentpole franchises. You see what happens when you retroactively go back and try to explain things (Prometheus)...shit don't make any sense.

It really blows my mind that Arnold continues to show up for this junk but refuses to be in a Predator sequel

Yeap pretty much what I'v been saying, all these franchises have lost site of a lot of what made the original popular, a simple sci fi horror concept in favour of more generic action based on expanding the same lore.

The ironic thing is the more complex these films end up being the dumber they get. The earlier films do actually have some substance to them that can be hung on the simple concept but now its shifted into geekish fan service. Looks like this will be no different and Cameron's name on it and Hamilton returning(seemingly playing a generic "badass") are just marketing gimmicks.

I would imagine these franchises are the meal ticket of various cokehead execs attached to them who are happy to carry on the unambitious milking as long as there making enough money to get studios to back them which hopefully isn't much longer.

Hopefully that period is coming to an end and if the franchises do carry on I'd preffer to see reboots going back to the original concept. Hire a quality director/cast and learn something from Jon Wick shoot on a reasonable budget without blowing $150 million on CGI and there might still be potential.

That's what I dislike with a lot of Hollywood and TV, how movies/TV shows treat the viewer as an idiot.

Man is it just me or the CGI in the trailer looks bad.

Maybe they are trying to retain the look of the T2 CGI for continuity but it looks too digital and unrealistic by today's standards.

this looks like garbage but i will watch it for the comedy
