Elections Teacher throws a fit over Trump in the classroom, loses it against his students

Underpaid, stressful job. Not sure why anyone who isn't a lunatic would want to do it tbh.

Wife's sister is a teacher. Iirc my wife says she makes ~80k/yr. She's not getting rich (and yeah her husband makes more) but in a 2 income family that's not terrible. She has summers off, so never had to pay daycare when their kids were younger (they're all HS age now but she's been teaching awhile). Great benefits.
There's definitely some stress and it can be a tough job at times. But you have to be a special kind of whack job to lose your shit like the teacher in the OP. Like...are you a grown up? Take a beat and step out of the classroom for a minute to compose yourself FFS. Everyone has a phone now, you lose your mind like that and you ARE gonna be a meme and get fired.

I'd read it was worse paid in the US than that and that teachers often had to dig into their own pockets to buy school supplies.

Maybe I've read wrong.

Teachers were never like this when I was a kid. I can't remember a single teacher even sharing details about their personal lives, let alone their politics, sexuality etc. It's a product of modern narcissism - these people don't want to teach, they want to make themselves the centre of the classroom's attention.

I'd imagine depends on the district, state, etc. And probably what the union is like in a specific area?

Don't get me wrong--nobody is ever gonna be wealthy by reaching. I do think that there's a general idea that all these teachers are woefully underpaid and that's just not true. I'm guessing you can find cases where it is true though--but that's the same as any profession.

I have a buddy who (way back a long time ago) took a teaching job out of college. He was pretty underpaid. But he was like "So I'm underpaid yeah, but I'm in my mid 20's and get summers off. I picked up a seasonal bartending gig at a golf course 3-4 nights/week in the summer and get to golf all summer basically as much as I want. Free golf, because I work there". We were actually all pretty jealous of him back then LOL.

Worst they got with us, was wearing political T-shirts when strike season was around the corner, which is still wrong, but nothing compared to these wackos. Only a matter of time before one of these mental cases seriously loses it, and we're reading about a teacher punching a student or worse. They are not stable people.

Public education is pure indoctrination anyway. One hour with yr kids is more than they teach in schools in a week. Plus you don't have to worry about yr kids being diddled and taught socialism and degeneracy.

I remember back in my younger school days an older kid in the fif grade was arguing again with his teacher.

Story goes she threatened to throw his backpack out the window and he counter-threatened to chuck his desk out after it.

I don't know what the argument was about, sense was he had a backpack full of candy or cigarettes or adult magazines or something like that.

So anyway she in fact launched his bag out the 2nd story window into the traffic circle out front, and yup, that bag was followed by a whole desk/chair combo set. Nowadays it'd be a damn national headline!

Politics shouldn't even come up in a language class, I'd thought it was social studies or history or philosophy at least.

Lee Marvin was asked during an interview if it was true he'd thrown one of his high school teachers out of a third story window because the teacher had given him a bad grade.

"No, I didn't do that", Marvin replied, "It was only a second-story window". 😈

Ha!

Well hey, just imagine, now kids everywhere will realize they can elicit a freakout from their teachers by simply invoking positive sentiments over Trump. The world may be in for a lot more of the type of entertainment in the OP!

I could see kids organizing a simultaneous triggerfest at a certain time of a day just to cause as much chaos as possible all at once!

Lmao. If that shit's real then that raging can shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a classroom.

Depends on the location. Some places can really low ball you and pay jack shit with pathetic benefits.

An affluent district in SF Bay Area can net a six figure income after some years of tenure and their pension will be guaranteed on top.

But yes, I would say majority of teachers will dig into their own funds for their students because the management is useless.
