Economy Tariffs for one, Tariffs for all! (doubled tariffs on China)

nasdaq tanked 500 points in one day

are we tired of winning yet?
I won, I have been telling everyone in here for the last 2 months, to bet against the stock market because there is a lot of history tariffs don’t work and are detrimental but someone with all that real world data they would rather believe a dude who bankrupted 2 casinos and runs a company his grandma started. Nobody dumber than a Trump supporter.
The big question is if Krasnov is tanking the economy on purpose or is he just dumb

LOL

Enjoy getting tariffed, cuckadian. I’ll never get your admiration for a poltician that mocks your entire country and people. It’s like you have unresolved daddy issues.

This guy probably would be happy for us to become the 51st state

Most of us Canadians do not align with the shit he says.

This is going to be shockingly devastating for some businesses here

25% on Canada is also pretty brutal

Well at least we seem to be in agreement on a lot of it. May have to cost more to manufacture it, but save costs in shipping, etc. provides jobs here. Regardless, pretty ridiculous to say it will crush the manufacturing sector here, when the only outcome will be stimulating it.

As an aside, I do agree that it is Funny with the climate alarmists that their strategy is to over regular and tax things here so they can ship jobs to other countries who pollute way more, only to ship cheap crap back, especially from places like China in these big ships that pollute a lot themselves and then have an alarmingly high rate of sinking in the pacific lol

Unless it's strictly robotics that are at the manufacturing facility, then it can be close to current prices. But remember, there's labour laws to follow, with set minimum wages, etc.

I could be wrong, but my guess that it was cheaper to buy and ship from overseas than to pay wages in the country....otherwise a capitalist's company wouldn't have outsourced it to begin with.
I may also be wrong as i don't know, but i'm guessing China does not have labour laws as strict as USA.

I lost track of what sweat shops produce in China, used to be sneakers/footwear, if it still is and that gets moved to USA....Diddy made a joke about how expensive buying 7 pairs of Jordans is for a reason (it was in Get Him to the Greek though)

Since Trump likes when people thank him. Thanks Trump for making me a shit ton of money off your god awful economy. I am glad I am not in a confirmation bias bubble and learned from Ben Stein tariffs are bad.
To the poster that tried to mock me when I posted buy $UVXY 2 weeks ago when it was in the low 18’s a share it was 25 a share this morning. Your confirmation bias bubble cost you some GAINZzz, Sherbro!
I have a question should your birthday be a Federal Holiday or your face added to Mt Rushmore if your economic policies caused a recession.
I will give Trump credit for starting the economic reset for his billionaire buddies. He is following the reset playbook to a tee.

No echo?

Or the DNC is in shambles and driven itself so far left that the average citizen finds it repulsive.

You have to admit how funny it is that Trumps team has so many former Democrats it should scare the RNC.
Trump didn’t stop being a Democrat because of any policies; he left when Obama became potus because of how easy it was to bamboozle rubes with the fake and racist birther conspiracy. Trump was given headline speaking slots at cpac and even led 2012 R primary polls based of this.

Farmers better buckle up, it's going to get rough

President Trump says he'll put tariffs farmer's exports which Farmers Union president says "makes things worse"

In a post on Truth Social, President Donald Trump says he plans to place tariffs on the goods farmers export starting April 2.

Minnesota Farmers Union President Gary Wertish says farming involves enough uncertainty and this only makes it worse.

"You know, farmers are very used to dealing with weather in the markets to some extent, things that are out of the farmer's control, that we have no control over," says Wertish. "We don't need the government throwing another thing that's all completely out of our control into the mix."

The message posted to Truth Social on Monday from the president says:

"To the Great Farmers of the United States: Get ready to start making a lot of agricultural product to be sold INSIDE of the United States. Tariffs will go on external product on April 2nd. Have fun!"

Wertish says Minnesota soybean and corn farmers will be especially hard hit. He says the move also destroys America's reliability as a trading partner with other countries, adding it's simply bad business.

"You know, the big damage is, it's destroying our reliability as a trading partner," Wertish says reacting to the president's post on Monday afternoon. "We signed various trade agreements in the past and if we're not upholding our end of the bargain, it really destroys our reliability as a trading partner and and that's the long term damage."

For American farmers, exports accounted for approximately $178.7 billion in 2023.

"Well, it sounds good, it sounds just great, but at the same time, you know, Minnesota and our farmers, we raise more than we can than we can consume locally," Wertish explains. "The markets just don't appear overnight. That's why we, whether it's crops for livestock, we're raising and growing more than we can consume locally and we rely on export markets. Putting a tariff on the export markets really does hurt farmers.

Wertish explains that farmers see this as a tax, both on exports and imports including things like potash which is a soil nutrient Minnesota farmers mostly get from Canada, and cannot get locally.

He also says blanket tariffs could be enough to push some farms out of business.

"Any damage that we do by losing the markets, it puts further downward pressure on our market that the farmer can get," Wertish says.

Let's see how great they will do if Canada suspends exports of potash to the US. They get 80 percent of theirs from us.

I am confused on what the goal here is for Trump. Please correct me if I am wrong but if you lower government spending and at the same time increase tariffs that will shrink the economy. So what exactly is the goal?

He keeps announcing Tariffs but not following through on it. I mean he has a long history of saying shit and not doing it, like lowering egg prices. He fucks the stock market regularly, i bet the seniors who voted for him, are happy paying more for medicine and watching their retirement funds evaporate.
I find it funny that people think a dude that bankrupted not 1 but 2 casinos is some kind of financial genius.
I am glad Trump gets his blood thinners for free, because even he would not be able to afford them after he gets done fucking the economy. It is going so bad, GOP elected officials are starting too duck their town halls.
it's dem libs

Are you really confused, though, comrade? It seems pretty obvious to me, budski.

To give himself leverage and a weapon in any future trade negotiations. He keep saying that Mexico and Canada have been screwing the U.S for years and want to reshape the trade deal even though he signed the last one during his first term. They keep harping about the borders but that's bullshit. And even if it really was the main reason starting a global trade war over it is just plain dumb as it's gonna create tons of economic collateral damage in the process.

He also said before yesterday that the EU was created to screw the U.S and that 25% tarrifs are coming on them as well. They have no border with the U.S so again it's to give himself leverage. Countries impose their own counter tarrifs to even the playing field. Otherwise you get shafted once come to time to negotiate as you cannot play the "We'll lift this if you lift that" game.

To get companies to build in the US to avoid tariffs.

To get companies to build in the US to avoid tariffs.

That's not how tariffs work, and even if that's the goal wouldn't you want to build the manufacturing first before the tariffs are in place so you don't have to pay them just to build the infrastructure?

This is closing the barn door after the horses already escaped.

You probably hot box your own farts. Laugh a little.
A pickle sandwich would still cost less bc you get more out of the pound of a pickle bc it’s cut up in little slices , you cannot charge more for a pickle sandwich bc a restaurant has to buy meat in bulk averaging per sandwich, they only use a few pickles per sandwich.

But this is the type of Trumper logic we have on here now that’s funny . 😆

While I appreciate you delving into the tough issues for all of us, I just thought it was funny and wanted to share, lol.
