Tank Abbott unrecognizable.

He is diagnosed as his liver is not working and his machine was almost cut. Must be a terrifying situation for Tank.
He was about to die that day.

That explains his health.

Having liver issues really destroys your body. My mother was a lot like Tank in that she drank like a fish and lived a hard life. When you're liver isn't filtering out the toxins any more it takes a toll on the body. People usually look like a shell of themselves after that.

This shit gives a decent chuckle when I watch it.

I love the story he tells about meeting art davie. Where Art tells him over the phone he'll need to fight some huge guy to audition for the UFC, and then seems surprised when tank actually shows up ready to do it.

What a fucking character tank was back in the day. I remember renting the ufc vhs tapes when I was a kid, and tank was head and shoulders above anyone else in terms of interesting to watch.

Without him, I don't think the ufc goes on to become what it is today.
It was a good break from the technical stuff and the boring 45 minute lay and prey exhibitions you’d get at the same time. Not that Tank didn’t have semi decent wrestling techniques, but he was a strait up brawler. You knew you were gonna see haymakers flying as soon as the bell rang when he was up to fight.

I was thinking today after listening to the Tank episode of the JRE.... man, how crazy would it have been if, 30 years ago, someone had told me while I was watching Tank fight in the UFC, "hey, one day, you'll be listening to this guy cry on the Rogan podcast"

I'd be like, who the fuck is Rogan? What the fuck is a "podcast"?

Good for him, skinny lean lanky old guys live the longest
