Tank Abbott Fans, get in here!

Tank isn't a legend. He was extremely popular due to his fighting style, but he's definitely not in the same class as the legends of the past... he lost to every legend he fought and really doesn't have any elite wins. He had some well-rounded skills but he fought like a bar brawler.

That "HW has not evolved at all and possibly devolved" statement is pretty ridiculous. Heavyweight MMA definitely evolved from the days of the great David "Tank" Abbott... lol. We saw it evolve in PRIDE. Just being honest here, Tank was cool, hard not to like him as a fighter and personality, but come on. Get real.

I'm not a fan of Tank at all but I'm in here anyways.

For the record, he was strong, his wrestling sucked,.

Hey, he is a NJCAA All-American used to constantly wrestlefuck a young Tito Ortiz; that must have taken some wrestling skills.

I have nothing against Tank, but for some reason I was not a huge fan either... for the credibility of PRIDE, I was relieved when Yoshida single-winged choked him out.
To be fair, the first time I saw Tank fight "live" (back when a few days later on Kazaa meant live if you hadn't looked the results up, since there was no one to spoil the fights for you) was against Frank Mir, so I didn't really witness's Tank's athletic prime.

Tank did not like to wrestle-hump and would rather have taken someone’s head off....

But he did have strong wrestling, especially for the early days.

He was the first Just Bleed star and got alot of eyes on the UFC. But he had no submission defense. Mir subbed him by bending his toe

...TS you forgot to mention GOAT Hairline.

I'll always have a nostalgic respect for tank. Glad to see hes healthier and got married.

I read an interview with him in a magazine years ago and he was talking about this time he laid out a biker who was behind him at the drive through window of some fast food joint .
The guy shot his mouth off at Tank so as tank put it “ unplugged his vegetable garden “
Afterward he said the biker started having convulsions so he got in his car and took off .
He said and I quote “ I didn’t get to order any food , but I got him a shake & I super sized it “

True legend!

And no pity afterwards.

These days, fighters are high five-ing each other after landing a punch and hugging each other every 3 mins.

Sometimes the high 5 in the middle can be oddly timed BUT, they usually come after both acknowledge they threw the sink at the other and they took it.

This type of action can probably only be understood by the two in the ring, emotionally.

Thanks for clearing that up...I guess.

{<huh}<1>

he also was that guy that found it fun to KO guys in the bar

Literally a killer? Like, he actually killed someone?

theres a rumor that he accidentaly killed someone at a bar in the late 1980s. im half way through reading his second book in his bar brawler trilogy, its pretty funny. IMO his best fight is against some 6'8" powerlifter named "donovan" that tried to punk tank and all his friends at a bar. he says he took the did a duck under counter then hooked the guy and put him to sleep on the pavement. he seems to rarely goes on the offense unless someone attacks or challenges him first, but when they do.. holy crap lol.
