Taking bets, how long does Aljo stay champ?

Aljo trains outta New York correct? Does he go to a big gym there? Because he could probably teach BJJ, he’s a black belt if I’m not mistaken, or a advanced brown belt.

He's with Ray Longo and Matt Serra i think? Pretty sure I heard that on Anik's podcast.

Yan would beat him again, he'll come in there more motivated, Aljo knows he's the fake champ, no doubt in my mind the ufc will run this back, TJ vs Sandman for number one contender I still think that belt could change hands a couple of times 135 is deep

Ohh lord every MMA personality has a podcast don’t they? Lmao. Yeah I remember hearing about him around that area in conversation on this forum, my memory is foggy I think it had something to do with Mossasi? I’m not entirely sure.

I think Yan finishes him next time, and I also think Cejudo whips his ass if he chooses to come back.
As much as that short king gets on my nerves, Cejudo is a fucking BBBBEAST! When he’s switched on.

Aljo perpetually dodges the rematch or defending until Yan either gets hurt or books another fight
Eventually takes a fight he believes to be easier, and loses

Ok follow up question. If Aljo is to keep his title, what adjustments do we think he should make in either a rematch, or against a new opponent that studies the Yan fight to exploit weaknesses?
He should pace himself more wisely or simply be ready to maintain a super high pace with a shit ton of volume for 5 full rounds. You could tell that Yan's gameplan was to weather the storm and wait for Aljo to fatigue and get more sloppy. And it was working beautifully. Aljo has nothing for Yan, honestly, besides smothering him and keeping him on the defensive with nonstop volume and a frenetic pace. The second he slowed down, Yan knew it was finally time to take over. And that's exactly what he did.

That's what made it so blatant that there was no other way for Aljo, at that point where Yan landed that illegal knee, to not get fucking smashed by a guy with superior weapons.

How long do you predict Aljo stays champion? Does he make a successful title reign? Does he get taken out by another Bantamweight? Does he get a rematch with Yan, and if he does can he make the adjustments to retain his title?

Personal opinion: he can probably retain the belt against Sandhagan and Cruz, but I think Yan smashes him in a rematch, probably in more brutal fashion because Yan is pissed.

Your thoughts?

Hard to say. Sterling fought like such a total newb to 5 round fights, there are huge and glaring mistakes that can be corrected. His upside for improvement from one fight to the next is much more than Yan's. Having said that, Yan was completely taking control, and that would only have continued. If the rematch is not immediate, he gets to the rematch, I think. If it is immediate, I'd say the odds in Yan's favor would be 3-2 to 2-1.

Well yeah, I’m not prognosticating it because of time I’m basically asking how many matchups does he get before he gets beaten. Aljo seems like a nice guy, but I’m not expecting a GSP Mighty Mouse or Jones type reign, especially after the circumstances he obtained the belt. :)

But it's not a matter of how many either--it's a matter of which matchups he gets. Depending on the opponents, I can see him making several defences, none, or somewhere in between.
