Tai Tuivasa was never that good

Indeed - and it's a hell of a lot more than 99.9% of the population could or even could try to do.

Also, he regularly put on exciting fights and seems like a good bloke. What's to hate?
He is overhyped. How many ufc fighters will get not a second change but like four chances?

A guy known for drinking beer from a shoe.

more high level athletes than would would expect are absolute party animals, alcoholics, drug and sex addicts. they get by on natural talent and Tuivasa has a ton of it whether you like to admit it or not. he just has glaring technical weaknesses in his mma arsenal that he seemingly has never bother to address. and if I recall wasn't his fight against Gane for the interim title? so just on natural talent alone he was fighting for the interim heavyweight title.

like it or not, most human beings could not even come close to doing what he did on just natural talent alone.

I was just thinking about this the other day. Imagine if Tuivasa ending up knocking out Cyril Gane during that big punch? He was at an impressive peak at that point... but now he's plummeting. Getting his grappling exposed really, really, really sank him now as well. Lots of fighters will exploit that.
If Tuivasa had KOed Gane with that punch. He would have gone on to face Jon Jones for the title in MSG.

Imagine that, right now all the Jones fanboys would be saying Jones is the real undisputed champ and Tom Aspinall doesn't deserve to fight him, when his only HW win would have been Tai Tuivasa.

I don't really care.

Talent or not, he is known for the shoeys.
