Taekwondo in the UFC???

Not all martial arts has to be geared towards mma. I started my son in tkd, they do sparring and kick each other but no head kicks yet. I think its a good start, i told him if he gets his black belt and wants to do more hardcore stuff he can do kickboxing or muay thai, but only if he wants to.
I agree about head kicks. I don’t need my 9 year old taking kicks to his head over and over and over again. I think TKD looks relatively dumb when you watch it on tv. However, being there and seeing how many kids get broken bones and hearing the impact of the kicks will give you an appreciation for the art.

Thankfully no broken bones yet, shin bruises and getting the wind knocked out from body kicks is common.

There's been a number of TKD trained fighters over the years. Usually TKD isn't their dominant style by the time they reach the UFC as it's not the most effective fighting art on it's own. But it does have some very good kicking mechanics for generating some big power with spins and turns.

Let me clarify. Guys that primarily used their TWD to win fights. TWD was their MAIN discipline.

Anderson Silva mentioned that he could not afford Thai kickboxing but a taekwondo instructor let him train for free and he credits his footwork to taekwondo.

The UFC has seen some successful Judo players (Rousey), Karate disciples (Machida, Thompson) and Aikido practictioners (Seagal flexin').

Has there ever been a super successful Taekwondo -based fighter in the UFC?

Also, in before the Rogan /threads .

Why would there be a “Rogan /thread”?
