Supermax Prison : Colorado - Imagine serving life there

Yes it would suck, but that cell is pretty damned luxurious. Try San Quentin. 2 guys in here. Loud, echo-ing cell block. Just kill me

And then we talk overseas...

Yeah I'll just take the solitude
Better yet, I’ll stay out of prison.

i dont understand why if we are to punish some irredeemable piece of shit, why not just kill them right after the trial, why are we wasting so many resources keeping this shitbags alive, waste of resources
Free labor aka slavery

This place is wild. Let's look past the inmates who are probably horrible POS and just discuss how terrible your life would be here.

23 hours of confinement per day, no interaction with other prisoners, and your time outside is 1 hour inside a cage. Fucking brutal. That has to fuck you up over a life time in a major way.

How'd you figure out where I was posting from??

i would definitely consider suicide if I had to spend my life there

Because we don’t want to risk executing an innocent person...ooops we’ve already done that hundreds of times over at least.

Honestly man I don't think it would be that bad. I'm happy keeping myself to myself and being polite. Worst comes to worst I join the Aryan brotherhood to survive.

I enjoy solitary, have spent weeks alone with myself and enjoyed it.
I dont mind it either but im assuming you were entertaining yourself with something that you wouldn't have access to there. And the idea of never being able to get out must be weird within itself and one of the worst parts. You knew you could leave solitary anytime you wanted.

Truth.
This gangster image that so many aspire to follow is idiotic.
You are on a hiding to nothing with it.
Even if you get to the top of the gangster life........ Heavy is The Head That Wears The Crown.
Ice-T, yes, Ice-T had a great point back in the 90s.

Kids in his neighborhood really looked up to a local drug dealer because the guy drove a BMW.

T's reply was "Sure, he drives a nice car, but he still lives in our neighborhood."

Yeah I get that, it was when living on my own in South asia, I'd just write (badly). If I was able to read and workout that would be enough. Not saying it wouldn't be hard, just that I think if someone can be able to deal with that I reckon I'd have a good chance.

Look at some of those people that are in there. Larry Hoover and Jeff Fort from Chicago are there. They led two of the worst street gangs in the country. They had to get moved there from other prisons because they were running their respective gangs from prison.. still calling shots, having people murdered, etc.

Not only do you have to be a total piece a garbage to get put in there, but chances are you fucked up one too many times in a normal prison.

Is it designed for rehabilitation? No, but does anyone expect someone like the unibomber to be rehabilitated?

Only around 40% of the inmates there have life sentences though. That's what doesn't make sense to me. Anyone who they're planning on releasing should be rehabilitiated. Not for their own good, but to prevent them posing a danger to the public on release. Instead they're taking people who are already fucked up, making them worse by effectively torturing them for years on end, before unleasing them on society when their sentence is over.

I'm not arguing against it's existence for guys like El Chapo or the Unibomber, it seems just right for them.

Fair enough.. it makes me wonder about how they (the non-LWOP) serve out the remainder of their sentence if they're stuck in there. If they're on good behavior and what not.. do they move them to lower level Federal Prison eventually?

I'm not really sure if Federal prisons have the same programming (education, work credits, etc) that state prisons do. I know here in California the highest security prison is Pelican Bay and they don't have programming, but at least inmates there have the opportunity if they are good behavior to get transferred to another California state prison that does.

Says on wiki after three years some can be transferred ... a former sherdog member is in one... I doubt he ever gets transformed though ...

They need to just throw em all on a in-escapable tropical island. No walls just give them supply drops and use apaches and sea mines to stop them from leaving.

I actually think that's a smart system. Why deal with all the crazy bullshit, and life threatening/horrific situations that arise in prisons, when you can just isolate them? These are the worst of the worst inmates. Why give them the freedom for buddy time in the yard, or the chow hall, and give them the opportunity to fuck around in the prison? I'm not exactly crying my eyes out because they've been put it permanent time out, and it might make them depressed.
