I don't really think you can cite humanitarian reasons as a justification for this place existing. It seems more likely to me that It exists as a place to dole out maximum punishment to criminals they were unable to have executed.

Some of them convicted of espionage don't exactly look like the typical high security prisoners.

I think it’s more to keep these scumbags secure in prison to make sure there is no way for them to escape or get injured or killed by another inmate.

If you put any of these guys in a normal prison they would either be dead or there is a significant chance of escape.

Rehabilitation is a noble goal, but there are a lot of unredeemable people out there. People who do not hesitate to take a life, to rape, to maim someone with absolutely no second thoughts on the consequences of their actions. They don’t give a crap about the lives they destroy, and I know this is a cold thing to say, but I don’t muster any sympathy towards those who see themselves as predators, and the world as their prey.

While I agree with you. The prison industrial complex needs bodies in these buildings to justify the building of more. What’s funny is these prisons appear to be based off the ISO Cubes from Judge Dredd.

Too bad we don’t have Cryo prisons like the ones from Demolition Man.

USA needs some gulags. Surprised there are none in Canada with all that empty cold frozen land in the north

a lot of the inmates would probably be happier working all day with other inmates, instead of sitting in a cell all day. but that's part of the punishment. no human contact. clearly not rehabilitation. complete total control is what those prisons are about. it makes life easier for those responsible for these inmates.

Look at some of those people that are in there. Larry Hoover and Jeff Fort from Chicago are there. They led two of the worst street gangs in the country. They had to get moved there from other prisons because they were running their respective gangs from prison.. still calling shots, having people murdered, etc.

Not only do you have to be a total piece a garbage to get put in there, but chances are you fucked up one too many times in a normal prison.

Is it designed for rehabilitation? No, but does anyone expect someone like the unibomber to be rehabilitated?
