I’d be okay with 4 a year but you gotta think about all the guys out there in the lower divisions. It hurts them a lot to me less active.I wonder sometimes about the amount of competing they have to do per year. I know at one point like 100 years ago almost they had 4 basho a year and briefly 3. I understand at this time Japan had some other things going on some more pressing matters. Is there any harm outside of tradition in dropping 1 basho a year even 2?
The amount of injuries that could be reduced if these guys had some extra rest time. I know they won't but like 4 a year seems like it would only benefit sumo as a whole.
