you did do well, but a gooner more than most must see, a little bit more spent here and there could've been really rewarding for you and that itself would've brought extra revenue....then again, could've caused havoc with the wage structure, but you haven't been far away for years,it may have only taken one or two top players that were already in their prime.

We on the other hand got lumbered with a massive amount of debt through the takeover by the late Uncle Malc.....we tighten our belt, and don't win stuff or win 2 FA Cups, would Adidas be giving us 75 mill a year to make our shirts ? Maybe they still make our shirt, but we'd be getting nowhere near that sort of money.

Again, too hungover to really get into this, but you are trying to simplify things a bit too much."1 or 2 top players in their prime" would cost

The idea of spending 150m+ every year is filling me with dread.

It is much better, and more rewarding to either develop your own youth players, or scout youngsters, buy them cheap, and develop them......alas MUFC have been poor at this recently.

well if you want to keep winning things, you'll just have to get used to it...the class of '92 has skewed our view somewhat I think

Not at all.

MUFC have always spent, but never as much as in the last 2 years. In fact nowhere near as much.

We were very successful long after Giggs etc were well past their prime, due to good management, stability and decent (if not spectacular) transfer dealings.

Up there with the charity shield

Club World Cup is actually a big deal outside of Europe and North America. Brazilians went crazy when they won it a few years ago. They take it as very serious competition (not sure why).

I'd guess it's because it's a big deal for them to beat a big Euro club, whereas we couldn't give 2 hoots about beating champs of a league that we've never watched.

Don't get me wrong, I'd celebrate if we won it, but I know that I'd be ridiculed by UK fans for doing so.

Spurs & Renters battling it out for Sissoko's sig.

Amazed Pool or Arsenal didn't go in for him.

We are in a tough spot. Fail to invest and we will fall behind because our academy doesn't have a golden generation coming through, which was pretty much Wenger's entire point to begin with.

You don't hire a man like LVGenius (especially at his age) and play the long game. We want and need to win now, he will try and develop players along the way and tbf he did give chances to a number of young players last season. It just isn't the priority.

If we had handled the post Fergie era better (losing Gill at the same time was also a massive change) and hired a proper Manager to replace him maybe our squad would have been in better condition. Our failings in that first transfer window where we ended up with Afro elbows set us back and we've been playing catch up ever since. Everyone agreed we needed changes and proper investment and that Fergie was dragging a fairly average team (by United's standards) to titles.

Spending money wisely is the key, and that is something we have been poor at thus far.

We've spent 300m, since SAF retired, 2 years ago!!!!! Of the players signed, not one has been an out and out success imo, although the jury is still out on a few.

We really need to challenge for the league this season. Labouring to 4th again will be a massive disappointment.

As far as I know Adrian was the only auto pick, but some interesting draft choices so far. Would never have guessed anyone would gamble on DiMaria so early with all the talk of him going to PSG, or Falcao after his abysmal year at United

Disrespectful, I hope van gaal denied the interview or had this man hung for this.

Lmao arsenal have a "war chest" every transfer window, we aren't buying anyone so why even bother bringing it up, Benzema scored a decent goal tonight but Wenger wouldn't even make a bid for the dude... Fuck

It saddens me that United are just throwing cash around when the one thing they never did was spend big to win titles, in all honesty who has been your best buy? Would you laugh at me if I said it was most likely fellani (it's 1am so I might be forgetting someone) or maybe mata?

Are you talking in the last two years, or ever?

past 2 years.

Also who do you have as their best ever signing?

Past 2 years: At this point Herrera or Mata (both of whom were way over priced).......(though I have high hopes for Shaw, Depay, maybe even di Maria).

Best ever (my life time): Keane, Ronaldo, Schmeichel, Cantona......Van Der Sar and Rooney not too far behind.

The Emirates Stadium is a trophy tbf

How we managed to get top 4 every season with Denilson/Squilachi/Silvestre and co is crazy.
