Whilst Arsene does develop players aren't Gibbs & Wilshere the only ones actually from the academy?

Pretty much, but we do have Isaac Hayden, who was close to a 1st team push before he got injured. It's more a sign of the lack of quality English players. We've had loads of our academy players do quite well elsewhere.

Other than Southampton, I can't think of any prem team with a truly successful academy at the moment. The milk's gone bad sonnnn!!

All Wenger did was outline the truth regarding our shift in focus in the market the first few windows post Ferguson. His comments are more to do with the Di Maria & Falcao deals, imo. Our dealings this summer are a lot more like traditional United signings albeit the fees are inflated (as is the case for everyone)

Basically the players we've tried to bring through haven't been up to scratch and rather than win 2 FA Cups in 10 years,we've decided to stop the rot.

But like i said Barca was only team after him. If we see a bidding war between Arsenal, United and PSG for Benzema, his fee could go high.
Keep in mind Tevez, Jackson Martinez, Mandzukic, Falcao already changed clubs so cant get them. Zlatan rumoured going to Milan.

3 clubs who need a forward and there aint a better forward than Benzema out there that is available. The fee might end up being really high. Not Suarez high but "easily"

you did do well,but a gooner more than most must see, a little bit more spent here and there could've been really rewarding for you and that itself would've brought extra revenue....then again,could've caused havoc with the wage structure,but you haven't been far away for years,it may have only taken one or two top players that were already in their prime.

We on the other hand got lumbered with a massive amount of debt through the takeover by the late Uncle Malc.....we tighten our belt,and don't win stuff or win 2 FA Cups,would Adidas be giving us 75 mill a year to make our shirts ? Maybe they still make our shirt,but we'd be getting nowhere near that sort of money.

The idea of spending 150m+ every year is filling me with dread.

It is much better, and more rewarding to either develop your own youth players, or scout youngsters, buy them cheap, and develop them......alas MUFC have been poor at this recently.
