International Sultan Erdogan detains journalists and imprisons political rival

You can't hand wave away the arrest and deportation of people on US soil without their Constitutional due process, no matter how much you may want to.

Let me know when the left starts doing that, then we'll talk. Until then, no, shitty political labels are the specialty of the right.
Annulling election results seems pretty undemocratic, dare I say "fascist" even.
But sure, you can go back to thinking being apart of the left is like holding hands and singing Kumbaya around a camp fire.

Also, I'm not sure why you're suggesting I'm hand waiving anything or making it seem like I'm a fan of the current administration at all. I came here highlighting the EUs track record with democracy in light of Erdogan's actions. Not every thing is about Trump or America.

If you truly believe this, then you're completely stuck in a partisan hole. Not everything is black and white, and sticking like glue is such a tribalistic outlook.

Its not a theory that requires faith but an observable trend. Are right wingers in Canada being labelled as Trump collaborators? Yes. Are European right wingers being labelled as Putin collaborators? Yes.

What's their to "believe"?

Let me guess, you're completely fine with invading Canada and Greenland, when afew months ago it never crossed your mind.
I'm Canadian.

"ISTANBUL -- Turkish authorities detained several journalists from their homes, a media workers’ union reported Monday, in what it said was a crackdown amid escalating protests triggered by the imprisonment of the mayor of Istanbul and top rival to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

On Sunday, a court formally arrested Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu and ordered him jailed pending a trial on corruption charges. His detention on Wednesday sparked the largest wave of street demonstrations in Turkey in more than a decade and deepened concerns over democracy and the rule of law in the country."

Is this the end of democracy and Kemalism in Turkiye? The EU is watching closely as Erdogan has stated that "The EU cannot exist without Turkiye"
Turkey, India, Israel, Myanmar, Hungary, and the list goes on, all being added to the list of longstanding dictatorships--thank you, social media algorithms.... :(

Maybe the EU should pay closer attention to its own member states and their democracies. Didn't Romania annulled the first round of presidential elections on some bogus ass claims of interference?
Bogus? More deliberate ignorance; what a surprise.
