Suggest an 'old classic' that gamers younger than you might not have heard of.

When I was a little kid we used to keep a NES at the grandmas house and my brother and I would play whenever we visited. We played plenty of different games but these definitely stood out.

There we found out about the legendary difficulty of Battletoads. Never got past the 4th or 5th level lol.

It is, and it’s even better on Genesis.

My one real gripe with the SNES version (which I love) is that it’s called Shadowrun, but you never actually do one Shadowrun in the entire game.

In the Genesis version doing runs is actually a huge part of the game, and how you earn nuyen so you can upgrade your shit.

It also allows you to choose your class (samurai, decker, or shaman), and each class has its own advantages. (I never liked shaman because you can’t use wired reflexes or other tech upgrades as it reduces your essence. Upgrade too much and you can’t even do magic at all anymore).

Never played the Genesis version even though I had it emulated. I don't like the graphics on it and it doesn't have the same production values that Data East put into the SNES version. I remember I got the SNES version from Toy's R' Us for like 120 bucks back in '94 which was ridiculously expensive back in the day. Gamers think games today are expensive. Was still worth it. Got a lot of gameplay out of Shadowrun. It really got me into stories and grinding in video games cause I wanted that T250 Shotgun after I got out the Caryards.

Is this the theme song?

Minsc and Boo. Cool that they added them as a planeswalker in MTG.

Please try the Genesis version. I played the SNES version, loved it and played it endlessly, and I can say I loved the Genesis version every bit as much. In some ways it is even superior to the SNES version. It certainly provided a more expansive, immersive world.

I just found out about this game this year!

I have no idea what I'm doing but I love it!

Great game.

Master of Magic is great, the community upgrade "Caster of Magic" is even better.

Original X-Com

Ultima 7 Black Gate

Tie Fighter (naturally)

Operation Flashpoint had a fuck ton of community created content.

CGI cut scenes...drive yourself insane for those CGI cut scenes...

Could be applied to so many games from that era. Pretty sure Tomb Raider got by on that motto.
The James Earl Jones impersonator was better than the actual James Earl Jones.

Posted here because we never got a proper 3d upgrade to the mega man series. Yes the 2D games are occasionally being made but Mega Man isn't a household name like it was back in the day.

WTF Capcom. Insomniac created the template with the ratchet and clank series... give me mega man. Not interested in Resident Evil 40 remake Champion edition.
