My gym just disalowed the use of chalk. I'd like to replace my gym but I don't know yet if I can with another in the area. I live in a really small and shitty town. So I ask the S&P, is there a viable replacement for chalk? stickum?

    Damn straight it is.

If I had more time I'm sure I can make a case for tort liability due to creation of risk...

    No chalk= poor grip
Poor grip on PP = injury

    something along those lines...

Just sneak it in and wipe off the bar when you're done.

Rosin, you can get small, easy to conceal can or use a bag, almost like pitchers use, I prefer the can. I think Rosin works even better than chalk, it is sort of flesh colored, so its undectable,

I actually think its better than chalk, because it has some grit in it, which gives you better traction

John, you're a giant. Just use the chalk. No one is going to say anything to you.

    Rosin!
I got a bag made for bowling but it's the same stuff as all the other rosin I think...

some site had someone looking down upon rosin as a chalk alternative because he says it makes your hand sticky and gives more calluses...my calluses didn't flare up today wearing rosin and deadlift felt lighter

he also said that rosin is ILLEGAL in weightlifting competiotion

My advice for the no-chalk rule...Keep using chalk

True Story: My gym had a blatant NO CHALK rule, and I got yelled at a few times for it. But with my thick skull I get pissed off and either just ignore them, or comeback with tons of smartass remarks. Needless to say, I went in about 3 weeks ago and posted around the gym were a couple of signs that read

"Using Chalk? Please Clean Up After So As To Not Leave A Mess"

Just get yelled at, yell back at them, make a stand, and you'll be fine.

The gym I go to disallowed using barbells outside the cage, I do all my deads/cleans/snatches outside...After a few weeks, they took the signs down

If my gym disallowed chalk the substituting I would be doing is my gym membership.

Just sneak it in, be extra careful not to make a mess and be courteous.
