Study Finds the Typical NBA Player Spends $42,500 Per Month

That's an A level athletes money for ya.

According to Kathleen Pender of the San Francisco Chronicle, wealth management company Personal Capital has compiled data on how much the average NBA player spends per month. Per Pender, "more than 50" players used the financial management tool, with the subjects ranging from rookies to veterans.

The findings? A typical NBA player spends about $42,500 per month (or $510,000 a year).

Wrong forum for NBA news.

They recreate the scene with the ear on the ground? No wait, the "where's my bourbon" scene? No wait, it's the "in dreams you're mine" scene?

That's why Blue Velvet, Forrest and Stephan; plenty of options and 2 company boys (just like me!) who'll throw it all down when you scream action and never once bug you about 'motivation'.

McG spends 10 x that in one run at the car dealership

...or one tenth of that at the car rental place

Studies also show that NBA players perform 82 times a year generating a shit ton of money

The average NBA player is also usually broke within 5 years of leaving the league...so yeah

It must be hard for them to cut back on spending after being luxurious with it for a long period of time. Most of them probably also don't realize that their careers might not last as long as they'd like them to.

The smart thing to do though would be to never get caught up in the lifestyle. Live relatively normal, I understand they'll have to spend some more than a normal person but not 40k a month more. And bank that shit, invest it.

Yeah but snow driveways.

I'm sure quite a bit of it are all the parasites who come out of the woodwork to bleed them dry.

Jones crashed that amount worth, so no big deal

While I agree with this, I don't think it really matters what the source of income is, 18-22 year olds just don't get it unless they grew up around money and were taught about how to handle it. Take any 18 year old kid, hand them a wad of cash, and see how long it lasts. Most young folks would think themselves smart enough to not need a financial advisor, would want to hook up their buddies, buy their mom a new house, etc...The average NBA career is 4.5 years. Professional football is even shorter.

But look how people are with a tax return. Eating like a king on tax return day, back to eating ramen three weeks later.

And look where that gets them.

You'd think since most of them are from a University (and top ones at that) that they'd be forced to at least take a financial management classes prior to their entry into the nba.

Taking financial classes on money will not dissuade anyone who has it from spending it.

It needs to be invested. If you had a lot of money like say 100 million you can just spend shit loads of the interest you earn from it and still stay wealthy forever.
Thing is these people are stupid, a lot of them, i mean genuinely.
They're basketball and nba players after all.

I...understand completely

F-level thread. TS do you even relevance, bro?

I sincerely hope you're driving lambos and pulling millions per year, or you're the definition of a nuthugger right now. And that's a LOT of nuts.
