Strongest MMA fighters ever?

Bobby lashley's name have to be mentioned in this thread lol

Tank Abbott

Ok little story.. Paul Herrera who was one of Tank's best friends owned a MMA gym here about 15 years ago (he also fought in UFC and got knocked out by Goodridge) . He told us how incredibly strong Tank was and that he has personally seen him bench 680 Ibs, not the video you see on youtube, but at another time he saw it. And that his max deadlift was extremely heavy, he couldn't remember the exact number but he said it was off the charts!!.

Anyways he told us stories that how in Orange County and Garden Grove Cali that Tank would purposely look for ripped guys and just knock them out cold in bars etc. And that his gimmick was not made-up in UFC, that he really was a street fighter and had tons of fights and he used to get turned on by knocking ripped guys out cold

That is not a bench press lol

Also bench press strength is not correlated to grappling strength.

I would argue that, I got a friend who can bench press over 450lbs.

He came a few time to my gym, and nobody could do anything with him on the ground.
exept maybe kneebar and ankle lock. (but you don't really use those in training)

He's basicaly a white belt, but when he's "squeeze" you it's kind of over.

He hurt me real bad with an arm-triangle-choke once.

(and I'm 240lbs myself)

Pudz is such an easy answer every time, like it ruins the fun and conversation all together.
I think prime Sapp would be pretty close in terms of pure strength but he lacks the endurance, technique and toughness to be a strongman.

Yep...but he never did that to "chicken legs" Jon Jones...
True, but jones length gave him a hardmtime. When he grew jones in their first fight he had him over his head but jones was so fuvking lankey it was like he wasn't even really off the ground. Also, I truly believe dc is so much stronger and better at hw, which is pretty obvious since he fought Barnett at like 260lbs

You didn't watch the fight. Pudz was able to drag Sylvia down with brute strength and no semblance of technique, which was absolutely amazing to me. Yes he gassed and Sylvia won but goddamn... that dude is strong. We once saw Monson, another crazy strong guy, struggle to get Sylvia down more than once or twice for five rounds.

I did but strength that only lasts a couple minutes is not very functional for MMA. Which is why I separated the two into pure strength and functional strength.

Cormier, Lesnar, and several others would ragdoll and muscle around Pudz in short order. But Pudz would make them look like women in the weight room.

Strength can mean very different things and it's important to acknowledge that in MMA.

I dont know who is as a man but boxer Rhonda is the strongest wmma fighter ever. You know she knocked out olympic gold medalist boxers with short body punches. She must have a holly shit power.

Mr. Coleman is very strong.
Josh Barnett and Mark Kerr both said Coleman was the strongest dude they ever grappled with. That's a pretty stellar endorsement right there.
Based on other fighter reports:
-I remember Brandon Vera said Thiago Silva was the strongest dude he had ever faced. And for a guy that fought a bunch of HW studs that is impressive. Thiago popped for that fight btw.
-Karo Parisyan had a judo match against Sokodjou and said Sokodjou was "bizarrely strong".
-Rampage, a beast in his own right said that Randleman was the strongest dude he ever fought.
-Rashad said that Tito's strength was shocking.
-Kamaru Usman back in his freestyle days had garnered a rep of being incredibly strong. He once wrestled NCAA champ, Olympian, and world silver medalist Jake Herbert and while he lost, at one point he was getting frustrated so he just dug double underhooks and literally carried a resisting Jake Herbert out of bounds for the pushout.
-Phil Baroni said Matt lindland was incredibly strong but in a different, non explosive, type way.
-Schaub said Crocop was the strongest dude he ever fought.

You also forget she knocked out 40 Samoan, rugby player, gang members in a movie theater once.

They were armed with bats and knives and started the confrontation by randomly cheap shotting Ronda in the back of the head with a bat. That's the last thing they remember...

I'm sure being a good bencher would be better than nothing, but there are tons of great benchers that were/are terribly weak at grappling. Just saying that just because you have a good bench does not mean you are physically strong in grappling.
This is coming from a competitive powerlifter and former wrestler.

Rampage can lift people his size, directly over his head and slam them down. Gonna roll with my boy Page on this one.

Yeah, he may be up there. I was surprised how well JDS handled his strength and TD attempts, though. JDS was a beast before his last 2 fights with Cain.

Not sure if you were aware, in that fight Shane was dealing with back injuries. Had some major disc issues he ended up having multiple surgeries on.

Good list you have there.
