I noticed in the press conference that Strickland didn't seem to want to make eye contact with Israel during the staredown.

It's even more noticeable here at the weigh ins, Strickland seems like he can't hold eye contact with Adesanya for more than a couple seconds and looks noticeably fidgety and nervous IMO.

It's like after he looks into Adesanya's eyes he can't help but look away to the crowd but tries to play it off and tells Izzy to "calm down china man" while his body language seems unconfident.

What say you shookologists, is he scared or nah?

he looks calm. and even giving away as much as eye contact during a weighin, is giving too much to the opponent.

the way i see it, the best approaches to a weigh in is to either just be tranquil and not make any eye contact...or to still be calm, but try to get a rise / adrenaline spike out of your opponent leading to an inevitable adrenaline dump in said opponent - also known as trolling the opponent.

either way, the only way that makes sense to approach a weigh in is tranquil and give nothing to the opponent.
