“I’ve got a lot of fancy f—ers wearing suits, and they come up and talk to me about title fights and things of that nature,” Strickland said. “You hear that all the time and you start thinking, ‘Do I really want to risk getting knocked out when I can go for a title fight?’ So I let the fancy folks in the suits throw me off a little bit. But it won’t happen again.”

He says he won't let it happen again, but he still has to face the danger of maybe getting KO'd and losing out on a title shot. Fancy fuckers wearing suits not withstanding.

Fighters generally pull well into 6 figures for title fights. That's enough money to motivate them to "get the W"

Also, not sure if Sean could have finished the fight. Jack is tough and Strickland isn't exactly a one hitter quitter type of striker.

I don't believe Strickland is a killer either way. He's had a few tkos but he's not a wild knock artist or submission specialist. He's only finished 3 of his 12 wins in the UFC. If IF he can tko or submit you he will but hes absolutely no killer.

Objectively, there was a lot on the line for him. It was a disappointing performance considering his pre-fight talk though.
I gotta admit however that he is REALLY good at point fighting, and I think he could get far just by getting decision wins if he sticks to this strategy. Probably wouldn’t get many fans though

He got spooked into point fighting by... Jack Hermansson? Jack is a good fighter, but nothing special and is only ranked as high as he is because the 185lb division is super shallow.

If he was that scared by Jack Hermansson, what would he have done if it was a Paulo Costa in front of him? Or a Brunson or Cannonier? Those guys can really punch.

Such a strange performance from this guy who was being sold to us as a wild man, a loose cannon. wtf Sean...
