News Strickland calls for lifetime ban on steroid cheats

lifetime bans? they just got rid of USADA. the NEW BREED of young dinosaurs make their way into the UFC, backflipping double legs and somersault kicking their way to the title.

wow, he's such an everyman. hopefully the next stance he takes is as bold and thrilling as this one

No.
People actually like Strickland.
No one ever liked bisping, he was obnoxious and pretty sure bipolar.

In the USA maybe. But Bisping is very popular in England. He's even more popular than Leon although that last has already accomplished more than Bisping lol.

We all know Jon Sterones Jones would not have the glittering career that he's had if this happened.

Do we though? He was starching people back when everyone was on it. And listen to alot of other fighters and analyst tell it. Jones never really needed it. He was so skilled and so quick to learn that it was silly for him to mess with it. Theres also people that think he didnt really start messing with it until his first suspension for the hit and run. That's when Jones really got in to power lifting. Which is why he ended up popping for shit body builders use. Thats not stuff that MMA fighters usually take.
I have always argued against the whole "Jones started after the first suspension" Mainly because I feel like the majority of fighters was on something. I feel like the users are always going to be ahead of the testers. Its just a matter of what level can you afford. This level may get you caught but is affordable. This other level isnt even tested for but cost a fortune.
Im veering off topic lol. I guess I just dont have the same opinion. I never saw Jones as someone who overpowered his opponents in any way. He never had clean KO power. And the way he would man handle certain opponents came from beautiful technique. He is still a dirty fighter. But his body type and skill is what made him what he is. His willingness to take chances. (Early days lol. that is something that was missing after the time off)

Good idea, but MMA is not exactly a "legitimate" sport, so I doubt it will be put in practice.

Why?

I was agree. Drug test should be like SAT IQ test from Western school for get into university study program. Like if you was fail test, you obviously was so stupid and cannot go to big league. Probably you study gemology or other lower profession.

In this case of combat maybe you study Karate Kombat or study knuckle fight with #BestBareknuckleCombatant Mike Perry. No shame as this was backbone of all combat sport. Test was much easier to pass in these school of thought and otherwise.

I think opposite - that is his biggest advantage, strength combined with reach. Also opponents always commented on that, that he is too strong, not about technique - (he overpowered Shogun, Bader, Sonnen, Cormier, Glover, Rashad, almost anyone that had offensive wrestling). Nobody could handle his strength. Punching power is something else, comes more with talent than with PEDs.

Guys with good standup and reach had more success, like Gus, Reyes, Santos, since they do not rely on strength that much.

Just make a separate league where you can juice. Clean fighters shouldn't have to fight juice heads. If you can't win without it, don't compete.

lol no he looks soft compared to the way he used to look.

Yeah, I saw him recently on Nina Drama. I was telling everyone the picture was just angles and lights. The whole internet was exploding with the new jacked' Strickland to the point, Dricus himself addressed it in an interview. I was right he looked exactly the same on Nina Drama recently, which was shot just last week or so.

if the “peds” are more for helping recovery and increasing durability long term, i don’t really see that the same as “cheating,” like taking something that increases performance in the cage temporarily. in fact, i think treatments like that should be encouraged and regulated for fighters’ health. i know this is part of a bigger, controversial debate, but if it allows the fighters to remain healthy, i just don’t see it as a bad thing.

besides, with how unprofessional and inconsistent (and corrupt) some commissions are, i just don’t trust them to hand out lifetime bans fairly. plenty of “cheating” happens right in front of them, but they never seem to care unless it’s convenient.

I respectfully disagree. Jones teeping Rampages Knee wasnt power. It was technique. Jones staying in range against Rashad, playing hands, and then rocking Rashad with a smooth elbow/forearm had nothing to do with power and all about his length and technique. No idea where in the Shogun fight you think he overpowered him. But it has been a while. All I can really remember is him coming out with a flying knee. Getting Shogun against the fence and doing work. Nothing to do with power. And I just watched a video with DC breaking Jones down the other day. And his focus in that interview was more on the technique of Jones. He said that his plan in the first fight was to charge in, and stay close. But every time he would charge in, Jones would him him with a perfectly timed knee to the gut. Every time... So DC decided he would stay on the outside for a stretch. But the whole time he was on the outside, Jones would kick him in the stomach. Not saying he or anyone else hasnt said Jones was powerful, but how many said it before Jones popped dirty? Besides, no fighter is just going to come out and say that their technique was so below another fighters that they was dominated.
And why do people keep using Gus? If Gus's reach and standup is what gave Jones problems, then why did he get owned in the 2nd. Everyone in the know at the time of Jones/Gus 1 has said that Jones barely trained and didnt take Gus serious in the slightest. And Gus got starched in the 2nd fight. With the same reach and standup.
Watching Bader fight right now to see if Jones is overpowering or just using good technique.
Start of the match... some strikes, @ 4:34 Jon is backed all the way to the cage. Im guess hes watched film and knows Bader is about to shoot. Jon throws a flying knee but Bader never shot. Either way, Jon is off the cage. He resets in the middle and then lunges again but this time into a takedown. Its NOT a power double or anything like that. He gets the legs, Bader tries to use an overhook and turn on top of him but he left his foot/leg behind which Jones had the whole time. Bader tries to get a G but Jones spins to the other side of the body. Nothing powerful. @4:06 Bader tries to explode out with little technique and Jones is just using top pressure to maintain control. @The 4 min mark of the 1st, Jon is trying to get a choke. (if he was really that strong, he probably gets this) But its not there. all of this is just Jon using top control and Bader not knowing what to do off of his back. That was the story of this fight. It was early in Baders Career and he just wasnt use to fighting off of his back. Nothing I am seeing in this first round looks powerful. It looks like Jon has good top pressure and Bader isnt use to being on his back. And then when Bader finally got back to his feet, he shot in from the bleachers with an ugly td attempts that Jon stuffed. But also over hooked an arm and weaved it to Baders neck. Bader falls over to side control. You can tell when Jon is just using his weight to hold Bader down because he gets real straight. Hell, at one point at the 1 min mark, Bader was on his knees and Jon lets him up but kinda hops over him. So when Bader stands up, Jon has his back. Nothing powerful about that. Just a willingness to be creative. 2nd round Bader looks winded and is lunging in with hooks. Most of the round is stand up. Nothing powerful. Just some strikes that Bader is getting the worst of. @ 1:26 Bader is just tired and getting beat up and finally gets close enough to Jones to try and pull guard/tried to slide out lol but it wasnt there. Nothing powerful about that, just a gassed, given up Bader. Jon is on his knees and Bader is doing a constant sit up trying to keep from getting hit. Jon gives him a good elbow to the back of the head and then starts using his incredibly long arms to sink in a choke. With 41 seconds left he gets it and Bader taps. It was basically the same style choke he got Machida with, but on the ground. I really think Bader was just gassed. But I didnt really see anything that one would need alot of power for. Im sure there are some moments in some of those other fights, but not in this one. I doubt the Sonnen one either lol. Uncle Chael be telling stories. :)

But seriously, why not? The penalties have to be high enough to discourage cheating. Who would dare to try cheating unless close to retirement with such rules in place?

Those who sit in glasshouse shall not throw stone.

We heard this shit over and over again from proven steroid users aswell.

This talk has absolutely no worth at all and screams insecurity/ attention/ false bravado.

if we ban fighters doing steroids
then we ban all fighters
no mma nothing

or does he mean ban that got caught?
