Half-assed, still coming back from injury hotel gym workout
So, my back got significantly worse after doing bodyweight squats at the weekend. I also had a bout of food poisoning that gave me fever for about 24 hours on top of the regular symptoms. Sunday I couldn't really move much, Monday was ropey and Tuesday I was still far from my best. But today it was feeling 80%, so I decided to go and do something that didn't involve my back. Of course, this was in the crappy hotel gym, so very limited. Here is what I did:
Pullups: 10 doubles
Shoulder rehab/prehab: Internal rotations x10, x10, External rotations x10, x10, Thirty degree abductions x10, x10
DB Overhead Press: very, very light x10, x10; very light x5, x5; light x5, x5, x5, x5, x5
Incline ghetto Glute Ham Raise: x3, x3, x3
Gunz superset (curls and tricep brodowns); x10, x10, x10
Pec deck: x10, x10, x10
Finished up with some swimming- lost count of laps but went for maybe 15-20 minutes. The swimming felt *awesome*- quick and easy, the lengths just whizzed by, and I each one was like an addictive snack. Felt like I could have gone on for an hour, but I decided not to as I haven't been in the pool for about 3-4 weeks and am still building up my swimming slowly as I am concerned it might put stress on my shoulder. My shoulder, by the way, seemed fine.
Don't know if it is accurate, but I weighed myself after my shower and I came it at 79.8kg (176lbs). If accurate, that is down from 87kg (191lbs) 6 weeks ago, and my average weight over the last year of 85kg (187lbs). And down from 92kg (201lbs) in March 2011 (my all-time high). I suppose in a way it is not surprising as it is really visible in the mirror- I go in a lot more in the middle at the moment, and what is left of my arm and shoulder muscles after highly, highly reduced upper body work is becoming much more defined. My level of body fat is really not unreasonably low- it's probably around 11-12% judging by visual guides on the internet, and I would actually like it to be a bit lower. I would like to get stronger, but I don't think I want to get much above my current level of bodyfat, if at all.
