Economy stonks v8, the wrath of icahn

earlier, i was in the middle of setting up a play on that when realized that rkt now has options and decided to play both sides of that, instead.

Whats your thoughts on rkt and lemonade as long term plays? Bought them both few days ago

beats me. i'm just exploiting them for the high IV.

i didn't look into them at all, but in theory... assuming they're ~fairly priced now, they should be decent plays. higher risk, higher reward. either they'll disrupt insurance/etc or they won't.

actually, they might be kinda dumb. seems more like higher risk, but only moderate reward. *shrugs* i'm just here (rkt) to rep theta gang. ...wanna buy any options?

<Fedor23>

edit: forgot to add, wsb loves rkt and hyped it before the ipo. take that however you want.

lol SRNE
also lol Tesla.
What an absolute scam.
Basically a ruse to allow big holders to now dump fuckloads of shares onto even more bagholding rubes. My cousin who owns Tesla got called by his mom last night to make sure he still owned Tesla stock; if that isn't a sign of rubery I don't know what is. The most rigged of games to enrich basically 40-50 people with billions each using an unprofitable company propped up by the government. In a just world those people see 4 cement walls.
Might as well take the profit if u can.

like rob once said, making big money on memes is easy lol + 55% on Tesla today

Roger that. Do you trade for a living or just a side gig? Do u only play options?

I really don't know about either stock...i like the idea of both companies and rockets financials are pretty impressive. I'm hoping they'll be worth double at some point in the next 2 years at which point I'll cash out. I threw 2k on each so cant really get hurt bad but could also realize some decent gains as both are ddisrupted.

Edit...what would your rkt option play be out of curiosity

side, basically. and no, but i like having the... option of options.

i rarely make plays on stocks that don't have options.

maybe. a quick glance at rkt gave me some concern, they might be badly impacted by the low interest rates/etc

bought 1k shares @ 19.69, sold 8/21 call (well, 10) at $20 on them for the $1.65 premium, sold 10 puts at $19 for .90. bought the puts back for .7, sold more at .90, bought back at .75, sold more at .90...

so i can close positions if it goes up/down or just take the theta decay.

edit: oh, were you asking how i think sane people should play options on it? buy leaps. which rkt does not have. so buy 3/2021 or wait.

edit 2: actually already bought back the calls for decent profit and sold the shares for a minor gain.

still playing with puts, though.

I kind of understand what you're doing with options but not enough to be successful...are you able to consistently make profits?

i edited the post, wasn't sure if you were asking how i think sane/typical options plays would be. vs θ

as for profits - yeah. i actually started writing contracts for stability's sake. the tradeoff is less reward when something takes off. ie: my max profit on rkt (as of 8/21, at least) is 21.65 on the shares, as they're covering the calls. so if rkt rockets (*rimshot*) to 25 tomorrow, i'm still just looking at $20 + 1.65 per. and whomever is holding my calls gets the most gains.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm still a relative newb. I actually pulled off the impossible and timed the bottom....dow18k....bought so many companies at steals. [email protected] at 140....zillow at 30, etc. Then I did the ultimate dumbfk move and sold them off for about 10% gain. I'd literally be up 100% if I stayed in.

Then I fkd around with swing trading for month or two and that blew balls.

Now I'm onto next plan. 40% of my $ in under valued long term holds. 40% in Canslim growthstocks for 1-6 month holds. And 20% cash to look for bargains or in case another major downswing happens i can average down.

Played around with a few options but I'm definitely ignorant....seems like being the seller is the smart play.

You didn't ask for my life story but I figured I'd give it to you anyway.

lolz, no worries.

with options, it's honestly all about risk.

(without going into spreads/synthetics/etc) one can play theta for a little 'free money,' one can buy puts for insurance, one can buy calls to supplement their portfolio, or one can be a degenerate gambler and buy puts/calls as lotto tickets.

i generally try to sell to the degenerate gamblers.

lolz @ micron.

i should have heeded the warnings ("everything is bad for micron") - at least i find this shit entertainingly ridiculous.

MU's stock takes another after-hours dump on... cisco's earnings, that have fuck-all to do with micron.

sold my tesla options this morning at an unreal number. biggest profit yet by a large margin.

going to try and avoid looking at it the rest of the day, lest i get my feelings hurt at the thousands i left on the table

those are special slam dunks; congrats. The idiots are strong.
Enjoy don't chase.
Right now some drunk idiot is trying to replicate your move at a higher price point and premium lol.

Slightly ahead on the day despite an awful price liquidating some shit at the open. Thanks gold and shit stock rotation lol.

Market is going to go down one of the next 2 days for sure based on the cycle of doing so immediately after whenever Portnoy has a drunk euphoria day.

yeah i gotta relax, really mad that it went up another 40-50 fuckin dollars after i sold.

obviously i failed at not looking back lmao

but jesus christ, an idiot couldve jumped into the market when i did and started making money. pure dumb luck i got in on apple and tesla calls right as the splits were announced. i had almost no knowledge on options when i bought that apple call lol. i know im no genius for this.

Reminding yourself you aren't a genius is the smartest thing you can do.

I've been trying to run the math on the combined buying power of every small time investor who could possibly buy Tesla shares compared to the now 20% gain in market cap.
Literally 30 million people would need to buy a share of Tesla @$1800 to contribute the actual 54 billion in paper value they made in 2 days.

I wouldn't touch this stock with a 10 foot pole after the mess I've made of it. I'm so confused. Pump and dump that somehow came back with cred, then pump and dump.

If they actually have a legit Covid test, I don't even know the ceiling.
Learn to love the pump. Ride it up and sell puts and make money on the way down. I love me some INO and SRNE for this very reason.

My play on $SHLL a couple weeks ago is finally starting to pay off. That Hylion deal puts them in the truck business.

Yeah I saw that pop. Silly.
I can't believe NKLA is up lol.

ok, buying micron was apparently the dumbest move i've made in ages.

LOL easy money short on Tesla right at 1650.
The most predictable dumb fuckstick stock. Thanks for the assured 1%.
