Economy stonks v26

Don't forget Google has also been spending a ton of R&D on AI:

Google is testing new artificial intelligence-powered chat products that are likely to influence a future public product launch. They include a new chatbot and a potential way to integrate it into a search engine.

The Alphabet company is working on a project under its cloud unit called “Atlas,” which is a “code red” effort to respond to ChatGPT, the large language chatbot that took the public by storm when it launched late last year.

Google is also testing a chatbot called “Apprentice Bard,” where employees can ask questions and receive detailed answers similar to ChatGPT. Another product unit has been testing a new search desktop design that could be used in a question-and-answer form.

Leaders have been asking more employees for feedback on the efforts in recent weeks. CNBC viewed internal documents and spoke with sources about the efforts currently underway.

The product tests come after a recent all-hands meeting where employees raised concerns about the company’s competitive edge in AI, given the sudden popularity of ChatGPT, which was launched by OpenAI, a San Francisco-based startup that’s backed by Microsoft.

Google’s AI chief, Jeff Dean, told employees at the time that the company has much more “reputational risk” in providing wrong information and thus is moving “more conservatively than a small startup.” However, he and CEO Sundar Pichai teased at the time that Google may launch similar products to the public some time this year. Google’s prime business is web search, and the company has long touted itself as a pioneer in AI.

good point. there certainly will be an arms race between goog and msft as well as smaller ai companies in the space. At the moment though, i certainly feel like google is behind with bard. here's an article that just got published a few hours ago

https://www.reuters.com/technology/...t-test-users-plans-more-ai-search-2023-02-06/

"Google owner Alphabet Inc (GOOGL.O) on Monday said it will launch a chatbot service and more artificial intelligence for its search engine as well as developers"

"Alphabet Chief Executive Sundar Pichai said his company is opening a conversational AI service called Bard to test users for feedback, followed by a public release in the coming weeks."

"Google's update for search, the timing of which it did not disclose, reflects how the company is bolstering its service while Microsoft is doing the same for Bing, embedding OpenAI's capabilities in it."

"How Google aims to differentiate Bard from OpenAI's ChatGPT was unclear."

feels like google is scrambling to put something out so that bing doesnt have a chance to gain any foothold on the market. however, even if googles algorithm isnt much different or better than chatGPT, simply being google will probably still shut bing out. but i do feel there is a good chance based on some of the language used that bard will be inferior to chatgpt for the time being.

but also, even just the idea that there will be even be an arms race for search algorithm at all, even if google ends up 'winning', i feel is bad for google, as theyve had a monopoly on that market for quite a long time.

Well...MSFT certainly winning the AI PR wars vs. GOOGL.

Bard gives a wrong answer and GOOGL -8%. ChatGPT gives plenty of wrong answers, as many people have pointed out.

lolz @ this ua interview. they got softballed questions and somehow still managed to bury themselves.

All I do is Wynn Wynn Wynn no matter what, got money on my mind...

TSLA seems to be a safe short here. Is above buy price of shill firms like Goldman that suggested $200 EOY lol

Earnings just hella ugly. This market is trash. Sideways trading for this year.

Added some GOOGL < $95 today. People overreacting to all this AI shit.

Agree, a solid buy, I like it a lot around here and Google is fantastic.. And Bing in my opinion has not a cats in hell chance of denting Google. YouTube and Google search engine are leaps and bounds above ahead of anything else. I think investors have lost the plot. No position yet. I think it retests the $90 mark but I'm ready to add big time into my longs.

I agree, but I'm also still weary at the macro outlook so I'm hoping and waiting for a dip < $90 before I jump in. Also took some DXCM profits and hoping TNDM dips <$37-38 so I scoop up some shares.

I hope Matt Damon gives us some more investing advice hot takes tomorrow night.
