Stock Portfolios V2

Thank god for this Fappening thing and iCloud failure. Apple stocks dropped like 6%, just bought like $6K worth when iPhone6 comes out it's going to go back up again. Thanks stupid celebrities.

Not too sure about that. Analyst may critisize them for having no innovation in their new phones and the watches are very low profit margin items.

case in point this AM:
NEW YORK (TheStreet) -- Shares of Apple Inc. (AAPL_) are slightly lower in pre-market trade after Pacific Crest downgraded its rating on the company to "sector perform" from "outperform," citing a lack of big new profit drivers following the company's event yesterday
.

What are your guys thoughts on the deep sea mining field? I'm seriously considering buying some shares in Nautilus Minerals etc in the hope that Solwara1 project goes ahead. It would be for sure a long-term investment strategy hoping that the eco-friendly opposition is overcome and the entire field blows up. I reckon Russia/China will be doing it for sure.

Bought Comcast stock at $39 and its at its year high of $57. Pretty stoked as I have about 40 shares.

Is anyone looking to grab BABA later this month?

How about YHOO since they have stake in Alibaba or some ETF's that will be potential holders of BABA like KWEB, PGJ or KFYP?

I bought some trinkets today at the Tokyo Skytree. My wife can't have chocolates right now otherwise I'd buy kitkats.

Perhaps I'll buy them and freeze them until she's given the all clear. Good call, K

100% do that. You can freeze them for latter, or give them to other friends. I gave my co workers in the US blueberry cheesecake. They were mad that I only had 2 boxes of them:eek:

Try the CC lemon too man, It is the yellow bottled soda. Melon soda too. Both are kinda Japan only types.

I don't own any Apple, but I think it is is hard to discount there margins. They can simply charge more for basically the same thing.

But like Samsung, I think Apple makes most of it's profits from cell phones. So that could become dangerous.

I'd go Yahoo. Baba directly is a bit shady. As it is a shell company really, in how you can buy the shares. Yahoo, at least gets a seat on the board.

For me, since I live in Japan, if I want exposure to Baba, I am going to buy Softbank.

I wish I knew something about stocks and could invest.

I'd reccomend 'The intelligent investor' by benjamin graham to begin with and then immerse yourself in the world of Investing for a while. Check out various investment banking & stock brokerage firms either in person or online to see what products & services they offer and how they operate. It's also woth picking up a guide on reading the financial pages and learning how to interpret company reports and accounts for a while.

In the meantime...save, save, save. Teach yourself a little economics and pick up what knowledge you can to design and prepare a well balanced portfolio. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions and I'll do what I can to point you in the right direction.

I bought Mullen Group a while back and now its -12% below book. Getting nervous, and I do not understand what is dragging he price down.

OK, I'm new to investing and I have questions

Could someone give an opinion on this article?

If I have at least 10k to lay down (and lets assume its nowhere near all my piggy bank), is there still any advantage to an etf as far as expense ratio is concerned? I can't day/swing trade very well. I work outside all day.

I looked up various 5 star morningstar funds and I didn't even see vanguard admiral class funds at all so I'm wondering if it even matters.

Funds are rarely worth it. Esp long term, an index fund will almost always beat them. So why pay more for less?

No thanks. You get rights to a holding company's profits. Not going to touch that. Fool.com has a vid about it. With the details, it looks pretty shady imho

oops was a little buzzed last night. Just wanna see how it goes but I'm also not gonna directly touch it. Isn't it a holding company in the cayman islands that you actually get?
