They also made the mess in the first place. They controlled all the key players and made all the important decisions that led to the crash. Worse, the people responsible took massive bonuses in many cases and not a single one of them (well just one) received a jail sentence for knowingly crashing the economy and doing fraud. The problem is the system and the way it functions, they have way too much power and they don't give a shit about you or me. They are simply not regulated enough and they keep amassing disproportionally more and more wealth and power.I can sympathize. Millions of people were upside down on their mortgages in 08, but really even the bankers in that kind of market and legislative environment (the CRA immediately come to mind) were put in a position of either playing ball or going under themselves.
