Rewatch Stipe's last fight

Ya'll are tripping about no KO threat at range, doesn't have many KO's from range of course, but there's for sure a threat.

That's actually a good example of Jones not being a KO threat at range. First of all, it wasn't a KO, just the beginning of a TKO sequence. Second, Jones landed flush with the shin to the skull on a back-leg roundhouse against a fighter leaning into the kick, which would pretty much always be a KO if someone were actually going for the KO. But instead of being a KO attempt, it was a very controlled kick; Jones didn't kick through the target, and he put his foot back down behind himself in a very ordinary fighting stance.

Jones simply doesn't throw much in the way of power shots from range, because most power shots risk leaving a fighter off balance or out of position and Jon is all about maximizing his advantages and minimizing variance, especially the latter.

No it isn't, there's no such thing as being a good example of not being a threat from range.. Like if it were a GIF of him having his legs chopped off maybe.

All i'm saying is, there is obviously a KO threat from range, regardless of whether he's KO'd from range before.. He's wiffed many power shots from range, but he certainly does try them, and certainly Could catch him with one

Dude has 0 triangle finishes, but I wouldn't be surprised if he got one, clearly a lot in his arsenal that we've yet to see work, despite seeing so much of him already.. Writing off ways one of the most creative fighters we've ever seen win is dumb.

Stipe wins by TKO and the Jones fans cry that Stipe wouldn't beat "Prime Jones."

Stipe showed up really light. He just came with the wrong gameplan. He thought he was going outlast Francis like how he beat DC. He showed up very slim on purpose and it backfired.

It doesn't matter, it absolutely wrecked him.. The tools are there and that creates possibilities.. His use of range is masterful and one of his greatest assets, to suggest he has no KO threat from range is incredibly naive imo.

Land this, night night.

This isnt 2011 anymore bro. Dad bod Jon 100% can not throw that kick anymore.

He lost way too much weight for the rematch, I don't get why he lost a lot of weight. He was doing great and the UFC champion before, he always used to weigh in at around 246 or 247 , then out of nowhere he came in at 230, it was strange.

If you watch Stipe vs Francis 1 and then Stipe vs Francis 2 you will see how much smaller Stipe is in the rematch.

I would agree (and jones will destroy stipe anyway) but I'm not sure this version of Jones can do this anymore

Stipe is shot, Jon is also shot. Who the hell knows what to expect? Jon says he's weaker than before after the injury, has 2 total minutes in the cage at HW in the last 4 years. How in the fuck is Stipe such an underdog?

-Comes in at 230, giving up like 40 pounds of straight muscle to Francis
-Timid as hell, basically lost every exchange in the 1st round, always backing up (NOT his style at all, Stipe is a ring general type of fighter)
-Tries a telegraphed single leg, gets easily stuffed and ends up eating nasty clinch shots from Francis
-Round 2 comes around, Frank drops Stipe with a weird step in jab kind of punch, Stipe tries swinging with him, gets slept

You're gonna tell me that this guy - who's now almost 4 years older, who's been working full time as a firefighter for the last 2.5 years, is supposed to make for some kind of compelling fight with Jones?

Even at 6:1 odds it honestly looks like free money.

Captain Legacy only wants the biggest most dangerous challenges for his LEGACY, ok? He doesn’t waste his time on nobodies in their primes with 1st round finish win streaks.

Because Jon has never lost

Stipe lost the weight for the Ngannou rematch because at full weight he was too slow to defend strikes against Daniel Cormier.

All respect to Ngannou but lets be real, the UFC was more than happy to book that fight in that tiny ass octagon.

Almost every MMA fighter who ever lived, would be brutally KO'd if they had to fight Ngannou in that octagon.

Stipe was actually impressive in this fight considering the circumstances. He was able to absorb more punishment than any fighter ever has against Ngannou, aside from 2016 Curtis bladyes. Yet he was still able to find openings with his boxing. He just had nowhere to move, which is what his gameplan required.

I know, but he's not unbeatable and Stipe matches up very well with him. Of course this isn't the same Stipe from 10 years ago but it's not the same Jon Jones either.
No doubt, but fighters who have never lost often get a large increase in odd favouritism.

Fighter A has never lost never mind been finished, Fighter B has been finished 3 times.
Fighter A is considered by many the GOAT, Fighter B isn't even considered the GOAT of his weight class by many
Fighter A fought and won dominantly more recently, Fighter B lost in terrible fashion and has been inactive since.

That's what I imagine is largely being considered here.

Lol Stipe is shot dude. There's nothing left of him as a fighter, he's old geriatric full time firefighter who's already 1 foot out the door. He's just here for a payday and nothing more.
Unfortunately you are right on everything here. But I still hope he lands a hail mary and Jon leaves unconscious on a stretcher. A man only can wish.

Stipe cracked Francis pretty good before he rushed in and got flattened. He looked old though, skinny and tired.

Anyway Jon's KO power doesn't matter. Look who he's been training with, a Gold Medalist wrestler, and one of the best competitive grapplers ever. He wants to dominate with wrestling like he did with Gane, it couldn't be more obvious.

Stipe fans and half this forum gonna be in tears this weekend. It's going to be glorious. Don't say you weren't warned, to anyone picking Stipe.
have you seen many people picking stipe? I see very few people doing that. He’s a live dog and the odds are way off. I don’t see people straight up picking stipe
