Stipe wouldn't even survive during Fedor's era

ppl tend to romanticize the past. That’s likely what this is. Who knows who would win between these 2, but Stipe deserves credit for his accomplishments.

That's NOT how sports works when evaluating a legacy.. You have to perform to expectations..

I could definitely see a prime Nog outboxing Stipe, maybe not KOing him(although not impossible If Stipe gets sloppy) but outlanding him plus of course avoiding elite grappling is different to shutting down a controlling wrestler.

My guy, respect that era for what it was without mythicizing it. Stipe would have ran the table on the Pride heavyweight roster. He's a superbly conditioned athlete with a well developed and well rounded skillset. Big Nog is gonna handle him but Werdum couldn't? Fedor is going to piece him up but Cormier couldn't? If you're not trolling you missed a damn good opportunity

Wtf? Mirko was 32 and Nog was 31 when they came to UFC. That’s still very much their prime. They sucked. Deal with it. Like Fedor in Strikeforce
 
If Stipe got KTFO by struve in his prime or in the young days when his chin was undamaged....he can get KTFO by any PrideFC HW...ANY.


IMO Stipe would be a Sergei type of character in PRIDE.....He would be top 10 or top 5, but would had never been champ.

OMG! You are SO RIGHT!! I mean screw the fact that each was like 12-15 years already into their MMA AND MMA/KICKBOXING careers and had suffered vast amounts of injuries, damage fighting at a highest level for years.

That means nothing to badasses like YOU and even tho zombie Nog barely won the interim UFC title after getting beat down for 3+ rounds by a guy he would have submitted in the 1st round in his prime, he still sucked and could never handle a lighting rod like Stipe.

Fighters stay at their peak forever so I am glad you are here to lay down the facts bruh.

He had one less fight's worth of mileage when he won the mythical GP.

Yet, Fedor in his early 30's was getting knocked out face down ass up by a middle weight that was 6 years older than him and had been fighting much longer.

In the current era it just seems like fighters are facing less diverse offence and opponents with much clearer flaws in their game. You fought Fedor, Nog, Crocop, Sergei, Aleks, Barnett, etc back in the day and you didn't generally beat them via exploiting some clear opening, you had to go to war.

I can definitely agree with this. Well said. Personally I feel Stipe would've been fighting for that 2-4 spot in that era. Great fighter for sure.

You forget that Fedor was fighting in combat sambo for a long time as well, and obviously getting hit by HWs your entire career has potential to cause far more wear and tear on your body/health.

That joke of a league ended 13 years ago and its HW stars all flopped in sanctioned fights.
 
The UFC HW division is a joke. Pride FC eats the entire division for lunch.
