Stipe to bulk to 250

Apparently the best UFC HW in history never had a strength and conditioning coach. Must have been taking the “if it’s not broke” approach.

If he does it right like Jon it could make a big difference.

Of course he had a strength and conditioning coach, same one he has now. But the focus was acquiring functional ligament strength, trying to get stronger without bulking because of the hit to cardio that big muscles can take. But Stipe could pack on beachball biceps and smoke 3 packs a day before his cardio would get worse than Ngannou's...

He looked extremely old in this past two fights. I don't see how he can make any meaningful adjustments to overcome all the wear and tear that is on his body along with going against father time.
Not to mention he literally fights once a year. By the time he wins 2 fights and earns a title shot, he'll be too old, too slow, and with no gas in the tank. And he'll be facing a guy who can knock you dead with an off-balance short left hook while moving backwards.

Considering the improvements Ngannou has shown, if he keeps getting better, Stipe could die next time.

Puts up a picture of him doing conditioning work (and looking very health btw) and talks about how he’s bulking? I think Francis hit him harder than we first assumed.

I don’t even think he pays attention to the actual media he’s posting

Not sure this is the answer, but I don’t disagree with it either. He was definitely at a strength disadvantage in the last fight. His gas tank will likely be better regardless. Losing that weight may have been a specialized strategy that only worked specifically for a smaller guy like DC.

I think about it like this, if you lose weight for DC, you’ll still be stronger than him. For francis, if you gain weight, you’ll still have the better cardio. It’s a risk reward game they probably didn’t calculate correctly

I agree. He needs to put some muscle back on to be honest. The next set of HWs like Volkov are bigger. He can grapple rape and GNP him out if he comes back strong!

Good to see him looking healthy

What good is that going to do ? Hes not going to outmuscle Ngannou

Stipe at 250 won't gas because he won't grapple be sure of that. He will want to strike, move and strike while being bigger to take it and dish it better.

In my opinion I would tell him to stay the same in his low to mid 230's and just focus the entire training camp on striking mainly boxing.

Speed is the name of the game, be as elusive as you can for the first 2 rounds while you jab him then risk a little more after you get a better feel for the tempo of the fight and engage to win the last 3 rounds. Edge him on decision, take 3 rounds away via boxing and moving is the winning formula in my mind.

I dont see it working tbh. He’s just gonna gas easier and be even slower against the much faster Ngannou.

I don't remember Ngannou being much faster, but if he is, wouldn't that tend to discredit your expectation that bulk will slow Miocic down?

Sherdog and its negative ass defeatist attitude

He wants to continue his fighting career and realizes he needs to make adjustments.

At least he is not like Kevin Holland and saying he is not going to learn wrestling because he doesnt want anyone making him change how he fights

Ngannou is like 97% fast twitch muscle. His explosiveness gives him massive speed and power in exchange for cardio. Stipe doesn't have that type of genetics. If he tries to bulk, he's just going to get fat and lose speed and cardio.

I don't see any benefit unless he really wants to focus on his grappling. He's already getting progressively slower as he ages, so adding more bulk is only going to pronounce that weakness and have very few benefits as it relates to the striking.

Can't really bulk your chin tbh. Slower Stipe gets cracked easier.

Will be slower and easier to land on. Francis will never lose to that man again.
