One of the most overrated aspects of Stipe's game is his boxing. He literally walks into punches. Here Reem hardly hits him but because Stipe is walking right into the punch, it makes the impact heavier and he gets floored.
Same thing happens here hes walking forward and throwing shots without recognizing that JDS switched to southpaw and Stipe throws a right hand and left hook with his hands completely down and gets floored by JDS. Again walking right into the shot.
Walks right into the uppercut from the outside which is horrible by boxing standards.
Walking forward with his chin in the air and trying to land but walks right into a right hook with his hands completely down.
Again, Leans into a telegraphed uppercut from the outside which is unacceptable in boxing.
And who could forget this? Stipe doesnt walk into punches here but he gets KTFOd by Struve which is just crazy considering Stipe is the only guy Struve stopped with his punches in the last 6 years.
Stipe is a good fighter but this talk of him being the HW GOAT needs to stop. He simply hasnt displayed that kind of level of craft to be called that and I dont think he ever will. He has only 3 title defenses and the average age of his opponents is 39 years old. Hes not fighting fighters in their prime. Way too many holes in his game. He walks into punches with poor defense. Doesnt have any submission wins and you dont see him using very many kicks either so he isnt nearly well rounded enough to be GOAT.
Stipe is a basic fighter and has a good 1-2, decent power, great endurance and good wrestling but those kind of basic skills dont make you the GOAT. 3 title defenses? Fedor won 18 straight fights after beating prime Big Nog for the HW belt in 2003. In that span of 18 straight wins after becoming champion, Fedor mounted wins over Nog again, prime Mirko, prime AA, prime Sylvia, Prime Hunt, Prime Coleman, prime Randleman, Rogers, Fujita and prime Lindland until finally losing to Werdum in 2010. Thats the GOAT.
