Stipe probably said something along the lines of "he needs to take care of his family" and Jon took it as "he's talking about my kids".

Jon’s doing what Honda did in the Holly Holm pre-fight build up, I’m hoping for a similar result so I can finally, after all these years say, Jon was never that good.

Lets be real, Jones is taking a page out of Michael Jordans book.

When you've achieved so much and won everything, its very difficult to stay motivated.

So even the slightest of comments and he will use it as motivation to fuel himself for the fight. Whether or not thats based in reality is a whole nother story.
 
Can't imagine a fight where the fighters are the exact opposite of each other.
Jones is basically REVERSE STIPE.

One is a certified good guy, routinely saves people's lives, has never popped for PEDs, and earns a living sacrificing his own life for the public. The other is .... well just try replacing every word I typed with its corresponding antonym and you get Jones.

It was from Rampage's podcast. His co-host asked Stipe if he would have more recognition/popularity if he talked trash and Stipe said probably but he wouldn't want his kids to think he's an idiot or think less of him and Jones somehow took that as an attack.

Bro, Jones is also old, and has half the fight time that Stipe has since 2020 lol.

And Jon's fight was just him taking down a lazy frenchman who doesn't train wrestling and easily subbing him in 2 mins. It's not like that joke of a fight has kept Jon sharp or anything. It was also well over a year ago now.

Before that he was struggling 4 years ago with Reyes and Santos.

Stipe 100% has a chance here, especially at HW.

Imo there's a world of difference between 37 and 42, I also didn't like how Stipe looked in all three of the Cormier fights. Hope I'm wrong though.

I don't think there's a world of difference, especially at HW when you're not fighting regularly, putting your body through weight cuts, and training super hard.
