Stipe reaction
"How did it go?" Miocic asks, repeating a question while chuckling. "Wow. How can I say this? He did everything right and I did everything wrong. He was a very tough guy, a good boxer.

"That wasn't a good fight for me that night. I was trying to do what I wanted, but Bryant is quick and fast and is a very tough guy. He fought a great fight."

Jennings reaction
Miocic left an impression on him, Jennings said by telephone Wednesday from New York.

"I remember all of my fights from the Golden Gloves that year, but I really remember Stipe," Jennings said. "He was a very strong guy, very big and extremely athletic for a guy that size."

Jennings was at the time the best American HW boxer (Wilder was still fighting cans at the time)

he didn't do well against klitschko. he lost every round and looked completely overmatched
Klitschko was holding and looked confused, in what was supposed to be a squash match.

Stipe shouldve went to boxing. He made $800k in his combined UFC earnings. Jennings made almost that much in 1 fight.

Jennings is a solid HW boxer, had a tough run getting matched up against King Kong Ortiz but I'd still favor him over a lot of fighters.

fight was boring and klitschko literally had his way with Jennings. it was not close at all

Stipe could certainly be a pro boxer if he dedicated time to it. He has very fast hands for HW. He slips punches well too. You can see he has been training boxing for a long time. I remember when I was at the open workouts for UFC 146 and Stipe's hands were really fast on the pads, faster than most MW UFC fighters who were there

When Klitschko finally got a point taken away for fouling it got closer. Still a relatively easy win for Wlad, but it wasn't the domination that typified most of Wlad's reign.

Yeah, well no one will be able to out box McGregor when he knocks out Floyd "Money" Mayweather in their upcoming bout at UFC 201

I just remember people talking about how Jennings was supposed to be the next big thing and then watching it I was like "another klitschko stinker"

Really? Jennings never had much hype behind him. He actually did quite a bit better than I thought he would. He improved a lot from his early pro days (he wasn't much as an amateur because he started so late, and he made considerable improvements throughout his career, but ultimately not enough to be a genuine top guy at HW).

i have trained with stipe his boxing is okay

When I read the thread title, I thought this was about William Jennings Bryan. He of the famous "cross of gold" political speech.

You can imagine how confused I was! LOL :)

Lol at the guy saying he's not good because he lost to klitschko. Everybody does. And looks bad. Jennings actually looked better than most.

He's a pretty small heavyweight. Fun to watch and he lost not long ago to Luis Ortiz. Tough as hell.
But Ortiz can beat any HW today.

That was a fun fact, i like how both guys are very respectful

Luis Ortiz is an inferior version of Mike Perez.

Povetkin murked Mike Perez

I don't know about that. And that's not a knock on Irish Mike. I'm a fan of all of these guys and I think Ortiz will make his mark despite his age...and steroids.
I would put my money down on Ortiz in those fights, dog or not.
I never hear much hype for Ortiz but I think he's a stud.

*edit I watched the fight. There's not many fights I've missed in the last 25 years

Struve is all I have to say lol.

So he got beat up by a guy who got beat up by Klitschko? and now he's the UFC champ? I can hear the boxing trolls now: mma is for guys who can't make it in boxing...

Joking aside, that was pretty impressive. Stipe was probably a better boxer than Stephan Bonnar who was also a Golden Gloves champ.
