Stipe Miocic - have I missed something?

Legend? LMAO. You're very naive. Do you think Dana gives a shit about sentimental stuff? Nate Diaz is a bigger legend than Stipe, thats not stopping them from trying to feed him to Khamzat.

Endeavor needs to pay the bills, they don't care about Stipe's body of work, they only care about the bottom line. Stipe being champion again is not good for the bottom line.

You're not a fight fan. You must be Dana in disguise, don't care about the fighters.

To fight fans care about fighters, and they also care about the history of the sport.

Stipe is the most relevant heavyweight in the history of the UFC.

It's actually good for the UFC to have an icon in every division.

Lol you've just realized that the UFC doesn't like Stipe? It's pretty clear he's not a box office attraction.

Stipe gets the winner of Francis and Gane. It’s not that difficult to comprehend.

Depends on how Gane-Ngannou goes. If it's a good fight they'll run it back. Dana doesn't like Stipe. Besides, Stipe neads to earn another title shot with a W.

I'm not interested in a heavyweight who will fight once a year and already has one foot out the door, sorry. Stipe was a good fighter but his title reign was shit, he made the division stale and boring with his lack of activity. With Ngannour and Gane at the helm things are moving finally. Nobody wants Stipe.

He's had rematches. He's had title fights. HW has been stale as hell since he and DC had to have all those fights putting everyone else on hold for over a year. And it really doesn't help that Stipe only fights once a year.

They need to make a HW title fight already. Make Ngannou vs Gane and let's go forward.

Stipe holds the record for most wins in heavyweight title fights along with the longest title defending streak in the heavyweight division. Arguably one of the greatest Heavyweights in UFC History.

Yet what I don’t understand is this, how can he hold those accolades and yet not be given an immediate rematch for his title after a loss? Case in point..

He loses by KO to Cormier, rather than give Stipe the immediate rematch he deserves off the back of his impressive Heavyweight run, DC is allowed to defend against Derrick Lewis before running it back with Stipe.

He then gets his rematch with Cormier and wins via TKO…. Cormier (company man/shill) is then given immediate rematch with Stipe ??

Stipe eventually lose title in his rematch with Ngannou (going 1-1) and seems to be out in the wilderness with barely a mention at fighting to get his belt back again. Instead we’ve got Gane and Ngannou.

Have I missed something? Do the UFC or Dana have something against Stipe? You’d think a heavyweight with the accolades stipe has in the UFC would get treated slightly better and more respectfully.
Stipe GOT his rematch, he didnt fought anyone, even if DC had lost his fight, Stipe would had fought for the belt without fighting someone else.

Stipe isnt a UFC/Fan favorite and thats part of the reason, also why would you want to see that again? First fight he survived then grappled for 5 rounds, probably taking more damage than whatever he did to Ngannou, plenty of fights later, Ngannou KTFO'd him, why would you want to see Ngannou hurt Stipe again? Even if he has those accolades, he doesnt come from a title defenses record, he basically lost it after winning it...no need to watch that again.

dana need to be fired replaced there so many fighter nice fighter that hate him he no even fan of mma he a boxing guy

I don't like White at all, but there are few people, and definitely no former fighters that could do that job.

Most likely from the way he loss. It wasn't really competitive so that makes it hard to campaign for an instant rematch. He didn't just get caught, he was losing the whole fight before the KO. I understand the Conor vs Aldo debate and people want to see more from their fight since it was over during the 1st real exchange, but his fight with Ngannou wasn't that. He failed with the takedowns and was getting beat in every aspect of the fight before the KO happened. He should just focus on fighting other fighters and having and impressive performance to campaign for a rematch. If he wants to wait out for an instant rematch it might not happen for years unless he's waiting to see the results of Gane vs Ngannou and try to get an instant title fight with Gane. That may be what he's planning on but if Ngannou wins, then that plan goes out the window.

Lol, it was only about 10X more competitive than the first Rose/Zhang (see below if you haven't heard of that fight) plus he already had a dominating win over nagannoo 50-44. If anyone deserved an immediate rematch it was Miocic.

I just spoke with Stipe and he had this to say

Stipe is inactive and entitled.
He won't fight until a long ass time.

He had one defense and got shut out.
Let him beat a contender then put him back in.
Save immediate rematches for close fights.
All immediate rematches are most the time is blatantly lazy match making because of poor promotion of the roster.

Big fan of Stipe but he doesn't deserve a TS after that performance against Naganu.

One or two solid wins should put him back in TS contention. Maybe against the loser of Naganu/Gane.

We are talking about the most recent fight. First fight doesn't say much about the 2nd fight because that is the most recent fight after both fighters made adjustments. It's the most telling of their current skill levels. Fights from years ago doesn't matter much in current terms. Their most recent fight wasn't competitive and Stipe didn't have much to offer in it. He may have improved since then but unless he shows signs of that, it's hard to go for the instant rematch narrative.

Thug vs Rose was pretty competitive before the KO. I didn't agree with the instant rematch but I understand why they did it. It is the fight that makes the most sense and does the most numbers compared to all the other fight options available. They will fight again in the future if Weili racks up some wins in the division, so there will for sure be a trilogy fight between them in the future.

Dana White doesn't like him.
Bc Stipe alpha Dana's bitch ass that one time by snatching the belt out of Dana's hand and giving it to his coach to put on him. How can anyone fault Stipe when Dana is a bitch.

As much as I like seeing Stipe fight, this isn't one of those times where Stipe should even consider the rematch because to be frank, an excuse can't even be formed on Stipe's side for losing that fight, other than him coming in underweight (which was a premeditated, conscious decision that Stipe made instead of something that suddenly happened within the fight).

Stipe got dominated both in the wrestling department, and on the stand-up, and depending on the number of times that he got hit throughout his career with potentially CTE inducing blows?

Stipe probably should think twice before risking some serious irreversible brain damage.

Not that Stipe isn't going to end up becoming fodder for Gane if that fight ever comes to fruition anyways.

Nope, gotta look at the ENTIRETY of the evidence. 5 rounds or 25 minutes of evidence from the first fight plus 1.5 rounds or 7 minutes in the 2nd fight. Miocic is one of the most deserving champions of an immediate rematch in UFC history. Especially now that we've seen the current champ naganoo DUCK Lewis at the beginning of the summer, and duck Gane at the end of the summer to accumulate a history of only fighting 1 fight per year as the champ so far. Pretty sad. No wonder the UFC already awarded an interim championship belt to someone who would represent the title better.

Stipe has taken a lot of damage in his last few fights. He probably even wants a slight step down in competition to get a confidence boost and give his brain a break before he gets back in there with Ngannou or possibly Gane. He's 39 and doesn't have too long left it seems.

Plus I think we all want to see him fight somebody different. Him fighting DC and Francis over and over was just like Cain constantly fighting JDS and Big Foot. Good fights but there are other more interesting matchups that we haven't seen multiple times.
