Stipe already called out the winner of Jones/Gane. Apparently, Stipe has gained a considerable amount of muscle and will be coming back to fight after about a 2 year layoff and will likely be all healed up and be in great condition to fight. Stipe is a KO artist; therefore, there's a real chance he may KO whoever is the winner of the Jones/Gane fight.

Don't count Stipe out yet.

Opinions?

He will be 41 years old and have sat out for over 2 years by the time he returns from that vicious knockout N'Gannou dealt to him. Anyone who thinks Stipe "has another title run in him" is either delusional or a sadistic fuck. I'm sure Jones might try to cash in on a Stipe fight before retiring if he beats Gane because it's the easiest fight possible for him against the biggest name, which is pathetic but that's prize fighting. Stipe is done though, like someone already said if he comes back it's for a payday. There's a reason he hasn't fought in 2 years...age, injuries, concussions are all very serious things.

Sure! It would be awesome too. Right back in the GOAT discussions. Sherdog would fucking melt down. There's actually a chance that could happen lol.

Nah. Huge Stipe homer -- he was one of the dudes that got me interested in the sport -- but I really lost interest in him as a meaningful contender with his bouts of inactivity. At his age and with the damage he's taken... I don't have high hopes of him coming back and looking majorly elite against a lot of the current crop of Heavyweights.

I'd like to see him take a tune-up against someone like Spivak, Volkov, or even Tybura just to assess how he looks after the lay-off and with the weight added on... but no chance he'll ever do that. It's always belt-or-bust with him. I'm not totally averse to the idea that he still might be a solid Top 10 guy who can beat a few of the ranked contenders in the division, but championship-caliber? I don't see it.

Stipe is hoping Jones wins, I dont need see Stipe vs Gane.

Stipe will only wants a payday.

With Francis gone, Stipe's a top guy for sure. That said, Jones is the top guy and will be as long as he chooses to be.

What are you going on about?

Who got KTFO, took two years off, and got an immediate title shot?

I don't know about getting KTFO, but it's not hard to think of champions who got a title shot after a long layoff. Henry Cejudo is just the most recent example. Now, you could say he wasn't coming back from a loss, but he didn't rack up defences like Miocic did either. Few champions have, especially at HW.

Not for as long as Gane chooses?
Correct. Jones could win a decision. Jones could win by submission. And even in his worst performances, Jones doesn't get obliterated. Ever. And the heavyweight division is thinner than the light heavyweight division has ever been. 'Cause tbh, you would have to consider people like Stipe top 8. Gane even admitted he doesn't grapple if he's not in camp. And Jones trains with olympic champions. I'd hate to be a Jones hater in this next fight.

Is that claim any more defensible than "Jones doesn't fight at HW. Ever."?
Say what you will, but Jones signed up to fight at HW. People have been sayin' he's scared of HW, but he's about to do it. People say he's scared to fight, but he's one of the greatest ever. People will always have negative stuff to say about Jones, but in regards to fighting, one of the only legitimate debates you could have is if he's the greatest or not. That means he did something right.

I said "there was a time" and you're listing off Henry Cejudo (who vacated his belts as double champion).

Try this again. Even someone like Matt Hughes had to win a fight to get a title shot after BJ choked him out.

It would have been ridiculous to think anyone who got KTFO and took two years off could waltz back into a title shot.
