News Stipe lands full-time job with fire department

Correct me if I am wrong. I always assume that firefighters don't do much except chill and workout in the station unless they have emergency. They work like ten 24 hour days out of a month then get all of rest of the month off? I only assume because I knew a paramedic for the fire dept. She sleeps in her truck most of the time but her shifts are like 12 hours and sometimes 24.

yeah, I don't know, that's what I'm asking because it seemed possible that he could fight Jones for the interim

Haven't seen this posted but can you be full time with a fire department and still train MMA at the top level? Does this indicate he may not be coming back? Any fire fighters out there?

At this point, in the greater Cleveland area, stipe only takes a job if he knows for sure they’ll play ball.

Guaranteed that he will build his own work schedule if and when he gets a fight scheduled.

Stipe is somebody around here.

Happy for him, athough I think he should be spending most of his time training for the Jon Jones fight if he wishes to be competitive

literally yes. don’t make insane money but it’s a solid $60K-$70K a year with benefits and government protection

Firestations have nice gyms. He can even schedule it where a coach drops by to hit pads for 45 minutes then leave. It all depends on his boss allowing it I guess. I doubt he even needs to do that. He is a HW and older guy. He isn't going to learn anything new. 4 hard days a week is tough enough.

They work up to 48 hour shifts sometimes more, 24 hour shifts are normal.
Yes they spend a lot of time in the firehouse, but they have to be ready go at a moments notice.

In New York they get tons of calls depending where they are.
Pretty crazy job.
