I messed up my lower back last weekend, while rolling with this bigger dude. It took awhile for the stiffness and major pain to go away, but it still gets stiff and feels a little tender. I been stretching to relieve some of the stiffness with some success. If anyone has any advice that has helped them, I would appreciate some good feed back. Thank you.

I can only tell you from personal experience and what my physical therapist told me. Alot of lower back tightness is related to hamstring/calf tightness, as well as your glutes. Start from your calf muscles and start stretching up to your back. I can say that stretching my legs have reduced back tightness by leaps and bounds.

Rumble roller. (It's a normal roller but has big notches in it that digs into your soft tissue) Use is from head to toe. It works man.

This, and work out the psoas. Painful but helps.

Thank God you didn't say "take moltrin, drink water, and change your socks." Lol
That's exactly what I said. Motrin = Ibuprofen. Take Motrin and stay active. If you got dirty socks change them, too.

You got acute problem after rolling with a big guy and it will go away in two weeks. Did you try upa him?

All I remember is it happened when I was attacking in half guard.

Yoga and or Pilates and what Nefti said makes sense, I am flexible all around except in the calfs haha and I´m a little weak in the lower back.

You injured your back, so now the tissue, whether it is nerve muscle or fascia, is now weakened. Stop stretching it.

Give it a few days to reach the maturation stage, then slowly load the tissue.

You generally don't want to be stretching injured muscles but rather resting them, staying mobile and taking anti-inflammatories.

I'm feeling good and ready to train again. Ares BJJ is waiting for me. Thanks guys

I told ya ...

Just do not try to sweep those monsters again.

Limber 11. I've been doing it only a month and a bit before lifting and it's already significantly helped out my hips and lower back.
