Relationships Steven Seagal Karate interview has 9 million views

I thought his fans hate him today.

No.

Was he bigger than Van Damme?

It depends what you mean by "bigger." JCVD had a bigger female fan base while Seagal had a bigger male fan base, JCVD was bigger in Europe while Seagal was bigger in Latin America, JCVD was on Friends while Seagal was on Saturday Night Live. Going by box office, if you rank the 10 biggest box-office hits, they each have 5 films on the list. It just comes down to preference. For me, not only were Seagal's movies WAY better than JCVD's campy cheese-fests, but his fight scenes were infinitely superior as well. There's literally no metric where JCVD > Seagal in my book. But they were both huge action stars and massive pop culture figures particularly in the '90s.

Steven was my favorite. Better movies like you say, even though Cyborg was fucking great.

Google AI claims Van Damme was bigger.

Jean-Claude Van Damme was generally considered the more popular and globally recognized action star during the peak 1980s and 90s era, known for more critically successful, high-grossing films. While Steven Seagal had a massive, loyal following and a huge hit with Under Siege (1992), Van Damme maintained a broader, more iconic status, with films grossing over 3.3 billion

I get the sense that Jeff Monson really believes in communism.

Seagal is just Putin's court jester.

he was one of the first guys to have realistic fight scenes in movies and it looked good at the time.

i really miss the action star era of the 80s and their glorification. it was pre UFC so we didn't know any better, there were still people who thought the WWE was real, that you could kill someone with a karate chop to the temples, and the endless debates of which roided up action star could take on 20 people at the same time in a real life fight raged on. ignorance is bliss, it was better back then.

now it's a bunch bozos on a greenscreen who talk about how difficult it was getting into shape and you have an hour of behind the scenes footage of how they made the turd. the magic has been lost.

A successful fighter always knows how to pick his opponents as he climbs the ladder of competition firing on all cylinders emptying every magazine.

Not sure where you/your AI got that number, but 3.3 billion? I'm getting Seagal bringing in 722 million vs JCVD bringing in 566 million 🤨

I was thinking if it included the Expendables but it still doesnt make sense. AI claimed Van Dammes prime was longer. and it's actually right. Van Damme still had a profitable movie in 1996 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maximum_Risk

Steven had a comeback with exit wounds. but overall Van Dammes popularity lasted a bit longer.

The best thing I've heard about seagal is when Chuck Norris politely ripped him a new asshole. Such a classy but accurate description of that phony POS.

they took a photo together just a year or so ago. google and you will see it.

All this arguing about whether or not JCVD or Seagal feels like arguing over who gets the bronze medal at the Olympics.
Their popularity was always dwarfed by Arnie, Stallone and Jackie Chan himself. Even a long dead Bruce Lee were bigger than them in the 90's.

The Triple H of actions stars, if you will.

Steven didn't have to suck any cocks to get a starring role in His first movie. And he did it like a pro.

Around 2012–2013, actor Steven Seagal claimed he would fight UFC Hall of Famer Randy Couture for free in a "no rules" fight. This stemmed from a joke by Couture, who said he would only come out of retirement to fight Seagal. Couture dismissed the serious challenge as a joke.
  • The Origin: Couture mentioned in a G4TV interview that he would come out of retirement only to fight Seagal, a comment intended as a joke.

  • Seagal's Response: Seagal, apparently not realizing it was a joke, stated he would fight Couture in a "no holds barred" setting,
  • fojoj
  • in a remote location with no witnesses {<jordan}
He also put out a claim in blackbelt magazine that he would face anyone in hand to hand combat.

When (UFC 1 vet) Jason Delucia showed up to his gym, Segal ducked him for months.

Delucia finally gave up and went to Brazil to take the Gracie Challenge.
