i never understood when people say so and so is in a better place. Is that a christian thimg?
good point, not religious. very anti-religion.
meant his CTE, drinking, and behavior were a bad place.
felt restless. troubled. too far gone.
There is something peaceful about passing on.
Maybe that is the better. Not an actual place.
(could spill over into a discussion about how all energy in the universe is not created or destroyed, laws of thermal dynamics, life cycles, weather, orbitals, asteroids, chemistry, brine, phytoplankton, the eye and the brain... but this isn't that conversation)
A sense of catharsis ...
for both Stephan, and the people left behind.
Thinking back to Dave Duerson (among others)
donating their brain to science because they expressed suffering.
Uncontrollable, unfixable.
The thing about death, we are all due on that debt.
Being around those living in unfixable suffering,
puts "death" and "life" into perspective.
Stephan had a good go of it.
In the end, he wasn't really living... just slowly dying.
Will try to remember his good memories and less of his bad ones.
Hopefully that put perspective on
better place.
It's not suitable nomenclature, never been comfortable with Rest in Peace.
Yet, not religious.
