News Stephan Bonnar passed away (RIP)

Damn. I always liked him and his fights for some reason. Preferred him over Forrest. Guy was a fun character too. Would of loved to see the trash talk in a fight between him and Chael.

Rest in Peace

RIP stephan. don't cause too much trouble up there lol.

also, not sure if I ever heard about this or maybe I forgot but he named his son GRIFFIN. LOL, awesome.

Also, someone fix the spelling of his name in thread title please.

Genuinely don’t know how to wrap my head around that. So many red flags with him yet here we are

RIP...we'll never forget the impact you had on MMA...

damn man too young
Rest In Peace
Hopefully the UFC handles all the funeral expenses or anything needed

Fucking hell knew he wasn't well mentally but God damn it man.

Dude did so much for the ufc. He's a reason so many people are fans.

RIP King.

Met him backstage at one of the WEC events he was commentating on. I was 15 at the time and kept asking him about the Forrest fights but he was so busy. He said "listen, im gonna have to walk from point A to B to C right now but i won't leave you hanging kid. If you wanna talk we can talk but we're gonna have to do it on the move. It’s up to you to keep up now"

One of the coolest childhood moments ever. My heart is hurting bad right now.

I know he had it rough lately. I hope he has it better now wherever he is. RIP American psycho

WTF! This one hit hard, rip to a legend and prayers to the family. I'll be pouring one out for the OG later.

Bonnar was instrumental in bringing the UFC to an even wider audience. He was always a game fighter.

Rest in Peace, warrior. May he have finally found peace.

That Forrest fight, as epic and brutal as it was, played a double edged sword for Bonnar, its like the pressure was on after that to be a go for broke take the pain kind of a fighter, he had to live his own hype with that one fight.
Dana, the rest of the promotion couldn't give him a job as a commentator or something, for all he did, why not give him a decent salary, show some gratitude ffs....
I've wondered if there was some kind of falling out. He was a legend, good looking, well spoken, funny, good at WEC commentary, supposedly had Dana's loyalty like all of the TUF 1 guys, etc. Seemed ideal for commentary or at least one of the pre/post show desk jobs.

They say "heart complications at work" but at 45 and given his history I think there's more to it. Still sad. I think he was chewed up and spit out by fighting. Probably is weird to go toe for toe with Forrest and bring popularity to the UFC then go two separate paths one being champ and you fading away. Could be drugs but using steroids is horrible for your heart so it might be that.

He also did pro wrestling and had spinal fractures from like 2017. Pain meds, etc... Terribly easy for folks to be overtaken. Especially with any additional contributing factors as others have mentioned.

Someone else said heart problems, not sure if thats accurate. Heavy narcotic issues probably didnt help whatever health condition he had.

I'm pretty sure he was saying he had a back injury of some sort and that's why he needed the pain meds from the hospital. Not sure if that was true or not.

Doesnt really matter how he went, this news reappy bummed me out.

Yeah we've been losing a lot of people, and young.

My friend died of heart issues in his 30’s, dropped dead a work.. was strong healthy non drug user. People die all the time of natural issues
