News Stephan Bonnar passed away (RIP)

I didn’t see that. The last video I remember seeing him in was the one where like hospital security I think was trying to restrain him, and he was yelling crazy shit into the camera and having a full on freak out. Physically he looked fine but he was clearly unstable

It was this interview.

Dad was hospitalized and suffered massive weight loss before passing so situations like his will always hit home.

Yeah holy crap that is hard to see.

If his story is true maybe it was sepsis that got him

Edit: Fuck, that hospital that turned him out might have really fucked up. This interview is sad to hear. My other assumptions are looking wrong

I gotta say guys,im gutted. I really liked the guy,and it twisted my guts to see how bad he fell off the past couple of years. It was a punch in the gut to see this today.

i feel exactly the same. and yes, he was looking terrible in his final years. was there not a support system around him, such as family? man, this is terrible.

You have to want the help. No one can force you. He seemed in heavy denial.

People are dropping like flies this year. RIP Stephan!

RIP. I was in Vegas the night of the fight. I knew it was epic. Prayers to his family

It was only a matter of time after that video of him trying to score opiates, sadly.

Still, RIP to an absolute legend of the sport. He and Forrest got so many people into MMA it isn’t even funny

He actually looked much better than this in that video he posted after his house burned down.

.
He got prescribed oxycodone(or something similar) for a back injury in pro-wrestling and got into an altercation in a hospital. I don't know more than that but it doesn't sound when people get prescribed such a powerful narcotic.

That’s what I thought was going on too, but after seeing the later interview in his home it’s looking like maybe there was something really wrong and the hospital made a mistake.

Didn't follow much the past few years but God damn that sucks.

Was a legend.

Rest in power dude.

Sad but I can't say I'm shocked after the hospital incident. It seems opioid addiction only ends one way.

R.I.P.

CTE presents much the same as acute mental illness. MI often correlates with drug use and abuse as a form of self soothing (the establishment prefers the victim shaming 'self-medicating", which is really an uneducated douchebags terminology). Former pro athletes also tend to lean into drugs and opiates because they destroy their bodies and live with chronic pain and spend much of their life in an adrenaline chasing career that is hard for some to cope with post career. Obviously all these things take a major toll on the body, mind and organs. Basically the whole thing unfolds like a deck of cards. It's a sad life, it happens to many and it's rarely talked about because we're too busy talking about their sporting achievements. Dana will forever push that this sport is way safer than boxing, and maybe it is. But this sport definitely destroys people too. RIP Stephan Bonnar. Warrior.

Sad to hear , always liked watching Stephan fight . Been a rough year for retired UFC fighters , Elias Theodorou and Anthony Johnson also passed away too soon this year

Very sad news.

Condolences to his family and friends.
RIP
Life is too short.
