What do you guys think, is this justified? It's hard look at this and say it's about justice anymore. It's about trying to gain power not equality. Why are these cities letting mobs deface public property? It doesn't set a good precedent.
Francis Scott Key was a slave owner, but eventually freed the ones he had. He publicly criticized slavery and gave free legal representation to some slaves seeking freedom, but he also represented owners of runaway slaves.
Grant married the daughter of a slave owner, and was given one as a gift from his Father in Law, but freed him after he got him. He was the commanding general for the Union in the Civil War and passed the Third Force Act, (AKA Ku Klux Act) when he was the president. He declared martial law and imposed heavy penalties against terrorist organizations and used military force to suppress the KKK.
I don't know much about Junipero Serra except for the fact that he was a missionary and was declared a saint by the Catholic church. He receives criticism for suppressing Native American culture.
