That's a more elite program. Elite programs in youth sports are expensive as fuck across the board. If you just want to play at the entry level, you can play. If your parents can be convinced that you've got a shot at the big leagues, they'll pay, and pay, and pay. I've done that shit too, man. There are no barriers for entry level hockey. I had natives on my house league teams growing up, who had no pot to piss in.

Any youth sport at even the tiniest of elite status, costs money. Tennis, Gymnastics, Basketball, Football, etc. The cost jumps by like 200%. It's not unique to Hockey, like you're signing up for some elite Polo club for rich kids. It's all relative.
